A GOOD FLIGHT COMBAT SIM?
Going off the subject of R/C flight sims, but does anyone know if there is a good realistic WWII flight sim out on the market? I have been considering "Fly Aces High.com" as a monthly subscription where I can combat with other pilots online. I have also been looking at the Microsoft WWII combat stuff out there?
Any suggestions would help.

RE: A GOOD FLIGHT COMBAT SIM?
Thanks da Rock, I will look into some of the MS software. Maybe I can get trained up to enter the Fly Aces High world later on.
AS for joystick and foot pedals. I do not have the foot pedals for rudder control but would like to invest in some. And as for the Joy stick, I do have the Logitech X3D Extreme 3D Pro? Is this ok or do I need a system where the joystick and pedal combo work together?
What brand should I get?

Get Il2 Sturmovik - I got mine brand new at a computer store for 19.99. It has hundreds of aircraft, massive maps, and the best flight dynamics. Best of all, I have NEVER had a glitch in graphics or performace, even on my 2005 computer! It also has better graphics then MS Combat FS!
The computer controlled aircraft are better as well.

I know, I have just purchased Il*2 1946! All I can say is: EXCELLENT!!! The graphics are a little better than the first IL*2 but the sim has the same ease of use as the original and no PC glitches! I think I read some where that there is another IL*2 version coming out in late March 2010.

RE: A GOOD FLIGHT COMBAT SIM?
Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 2 was my introduction to the internet, forums et al. I have a lot of love for that game/sim, however it's very hard to find anyone to fly with anymore, and it is getting fairly dated.
CFS3 was an improvement in graphics, but not in gameplay or simulation was the general concensus.
IL2 came out and was very well liked. It's now gotten quite a fanbase and a lot of add-ons. I actually picked it up on Steam over the holidays for $5 on one of their sales.
IL2 Wings of Prey http://www.airwargame.com/eng is new, and supposed to be very pretty, however there is some debate on how good of a simulation it is. It's supposedly a little more arcadey than the previous IL2 sims, as they've tried to please both the console gamers and the PC sim guys. I've yet to try it, I'm curious if it's any good though.

I played the demo and was not too impressed. Yes it is very much on the side of an arcade pc game. I found that it was easy to shoot down your enemy.

Il2 1946 is the best version - it comes with all the previous versions, plus a few new ones - It certainly is not arcade like!
I have been flying it for some time, and have never even considered addons.
I believe that a Battle Of Britain version is coming out, and from what I've seen, the graphics are fantastic.

1946 (the complete IL2) is available download from ubisoft. About 2 GB big, think I paid $20.
The CH Propedals are very good pedals. Lots of places selling them, price compare for under $100.
You can combine any stick with the pedals.
The top rated CH fighterstick can be under $100.

RE: A GOOD FLIGHT COMBAT SIM?
Really? 5 dollars is a great price!
I think Il2 is the best bargain for any flight simulator - I paid 50 dollars for FSX a while back, and you don't actually get as much, except a full world map! (and a Cessna or two.)
