Default Galvanized Fuel Can

Can you use a galvanized fuel can to store R/C fuel? I found a perfect fuel can at a flea market and would rather store my fuel in it than use the plastic jugs. I have heard 2 different stories one says it's ok the other one says the fuel will break down the galvanizing has anyone used one of these for their fuel.

Thanks

If the fuel picks up a lot of water then you will corrode the zinc which could cause problems. You are not supposed to use galvanized piping in fuel delivery systems, water that always gets in the tanks at some time will settle in the low points and cause zinc to get in the fuel. Not sure why the concern for small amounts of zinc, maybe it harms catalytic converters, if so it could blow glow plugs.
