5% nitro
It has been suggested that I run 5% nitro fuel thru my MDS engines. My hobby shop does not carry 5%, but they can order a case for me. All I need is a gallon or less to see if it solves my problems. My question is, is it easy to make my own fuel or can I use my 10% fuel and mix it somehow to get 5%. Please give full details, I don't know much at all about fuels.

RE: 5% nitro
I think RedMax would ship you four Quarts.

RE: 5% nitro
As would Tower and others.

RE: 5% nitro
I checked the Tower site for this and unless I missed something, the only 5% they ship is four gallons.

RE: 5% nitro
As a matter of fact Sport, that's what I use for the most part is Fox 5% with 20% 50/50 lube. Sometimes I have to wait a day or two extra for them to make it, but I don't wait until the last minute.

If you mix that in equal parts with your 10%, you'll end up with an average of 5% and an average blend of the castor with whatever you got now. So 1/2 gallon (your 10%) + 1/2 gallon (FAI)---> |
RE: 5% nitro
Are we talking MDS 148? If so, 5% is what you need. Most big glow engines don't like alot of nitro and my 148 rejected 15%, kept kickin off the prop.
Same with Moki 180 and 210 engines but I'm not sure about OS 160's. Moki recomends 10% in cold weather only. You DO know that MDS has a new carb for the 148, solves all the dead-stick problems. |
RE: 5% nitro
I have Moki 180 & 210 engines. On hand I also have four gallons of Cool Power 5% fuel.
I have conflicting instruction on whether to use only castor fuels - or - OK for synthetics? I have the recent plug recommendation of OS f glow plugs! |
