What Hpi Baja do you all recommend I purchase 5T, 5B, or 5B SS?
I want to purchase a Baja but not sure what version I want, and there is a significant price gap from the 5T and all the others. So I want to here what you guys think, I have always listened to the advise I have received in this forum and you guys are great.

First...
Do you want a buggy low to the ground or a truck with better ground clearance?
A) If buggy is desired then go for the SS
B) if increased ride height is desired then go for 5T.
/end thread.
Note: the 5B shouldnt even be an option. The SS is superior.

I would say to get the ss. This way, YOU are building it which will make life a lot easier for maintenance and repairs. And you can always get the parts to put a truck together if you want the truck.

I just got a 5B 2.0 from DDM For 1000 shipped...It comes with a Rear dom pipe for free..The only difference I see from the 2.0 and the ss is the 2.0 does not have a 26cc eng..Everything else is the same..I like the gunmetal parts better than the SS orange parts too..

it comes down to what you want out of it if your looking for a "smooth" "flat" track with bumps and some air time i say toe 5b now @ this point it comes down to whether you want to build it or buy it rtr (you still need to buy a few parts for the ss like metal gear steering servos....)
but any ways if you go the ss route teamfast eddy has a 100 video build of the ss on youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/view_play_lis...7F03DE40E06F3F (i kind of got bored 1 day when i was looking in to buying 5th scale yes video 4 is missing)
but if you want to bash and well have more ground clerance and better wheel stance get the 5t
then the other question is are you sure you want a 2wd vehicle and not a 4wd vehicle???
nuetech, fs racing, redcat, mcd... and others make 5th scale as well.... but for parts support (both factory and aftermarket)/quality of parts/and cost of parts hpi 5 b/t has about the best
the hpi series has some good aspects but well there 2wd, some times its a paint to work on them because the cage is in the way there 2wd....
The 2.0 is what another ~$180-$200 more ok and you get a "free" pipe??? and the 2.0 has a 23cc vs the ss 26cc i think with $200 you could buy a pipe and have a faster better accelerating rc vehicle
(or a high compression head kit)

Get the SS.
After market radio > stock
Aftermarket servos > stock
26cc > 23cc
I was not aware that the 2.0 came with the SS diffs now. but back before the 2.0 the SS was better because it came with the upgrades.
If you do decide to go for the 2.0 then buy it from Daves and use DDM discount code. 5% off and free shipping plus free DDM Dominator pipe! Nice pipe and even nicer since its free!
If you change your mind to 4wd then look at Nutech and FG.

I took all the parts off the 23cc 2.0 and built a 4 bolt Zen long block for about 275...So I have a RTR 2.0 with Pipe, ESP 30.5 modded championship ported engine for $1275...
I like my way better..

[/quoteThe manual is very detailed and being that you have previously built some helis, you wont have a problem at all. As long as you have half a brain and good tools, your all set. You'll have a blast with it.

5b ss gets my vote! fun to build and now i know every square mm off it which will make it much easier to repair.
i thought the manual was great. it has a lot of detail and was easy to follow with detailed drawings.

Just wondering how you did you deanodizing? I'm very curious cause I'm not a fan of the orange parts on my baja either.
Thanks,
Josh
