Default What do I need for my FG

I just got my long awaited FG Monster Beetle Pro. I was wondering what I needed as far as servos and shock fluid go?
I was thinking this for servos.

I use the 645 on my Baja for throttle. Those servos are perfect. Dont forget a receiver pack if you dont have one yet.

If you did not get a RTR you will need the following:

giant scale servo for steering: Go with the hitec 5755 or Hitec 805MG. For throttle, you do not need anything high speed. The hitec 645mg is good because it has enough torque if you upgrade to front cable brakes later. You also need a 6volt receiver pack. Go minimum 3300mah pack

As for the truck, first thing I would get the following right away

6439 alloy gear holder- the plastic stock one will melt out pretty quick (if yours comes with the steel spur gear, then you don't need this)
alloy rear upper arms - these will stop the flex and keep your spur gear from stripping out.

for hop-ups I would go in this order:
pipe
front brakes
wheelie bar
alloy front uprights.

You wont be able to wheelie with that bar. Its meant for drag racing.

I would say FGbasher has the right order in hop ups..

Darkfire, that is a wheelie bar, it is fully adjustable, you can set it up the way you would like, it does not have to sit on the ground, it can sit all the way up off the ground, it's all in what the user wants it for.
You don't just have to drag race with it.

my fg came artr from Dave's. I just ordered the receiver for my 3PM, the 5755, 645mg, and battery. So what about shock fluid? do I even need it? If not than all I'll need is paint.
I have a pipe for it. and the pinion is metal. I can't wait to abuse this thing. Anyone know where to get some aftermarket parts for it.

Don’t forget one of the most if not the most important upgrades you need a kill switch. Before you even run the car make sure you have installed, just my advice. I recommend getting the FG or whatever brand alloy engine mounts, the small and the big one.[8D]

you may have been better off with the 5645, same as the 645 but digital (and more money[])...some handsets don't have dig/analogue ch settings (not sure on your 3pm) and don't like running a digital and analogue servo at the same time.
+1 to the kill switch and alloy engine mounts..i'd also add alloy upper rear arms and an alloy diff case.
DDM, fg supply, high performance hobbies, advance hobbies stock FG stuff and hop ups...don't bother with hobbythek unless you have a big order...their minimum shipping weight is 1kg so a single bearing will ship as 1kg and cost you about $45[X(]...been there done that

I like your setup! Yea dont forget to PPM mode on the Futaba >.< I've fried servos without realizing it before. But it didnt happen with every analog servo just some. Each time the servo failed it had different symptoms and it confused the hell out of me until I took out one of my nitros that I knew had analog only and remembered to check the radio. As I changed the setting it hit me like a brick to my head that I was frying my servos.

fg shocks come with 1000 and it's way to thick..1000=about 100wt....I seem to remember i ran 70 rear and 60 front in my fgbaja, the pro has 2 shocks on each wheel and I've heard people running 70wt in one and 60wt in the other.

Agree with above posters here, get the brake/throttle-servo digital too while you are at it And atleast get the killswitch! That is a cheap, but well worth insurance.

So, can I use the HPI brand shock fluid for the my FG shocks? I can't seem to find any 60 and 70 WT.[:@]

you can but trouble with hpi oil is it comes no thicker than 40wt and is too thin for the fg shocks...the piston holes are too big...any LHS that has elec or nitro should have a variety of oils..or so you'd think

Got the HS-5755MG for the steering. The problem is, it's too small for the space. I know an 805 will fit, but I already got this one. Anybody ever run a 5755? If so. How did you mount it?

I guess maybe [link=http://www.rc-car-online-shop.de/cgi-bin/cosmoshop/lshop.cgi?action=showdetail&wkid=1354&ls=e&nc=1286448940-1730&rubnum=&artnum=fg_6118_02&file=&gesamt_zeilen=0Tsuche6118]this[/link] is what you need? The servo is just a tad too "short", right?

that's indeed the needed part....your way better off with the 5755, the 805 is slower, less powerful and has nylon gears

Yep. found the part. all is well. Steering, throttle, and brake all work. Now all I need is a decent paint job so I can ruin the finish and she'll be good to go.
