thus far it sounds like the redcat is good for the money.
i looked at these before i went and bought my king motors baja. i picked the baja since it was $150 cheaper and i knew i could upgrade and parts that might break with HPI or other aftermarket parts.
but i have seen one of these run a couple of months ago. a guy not too far from me had one and ran it on his track next to may baja.
4WD makes a HUGE difference! his redcat out accelerated, handled and out breaked my baja at every turn!

and it sounds like the redcat is about the same quality as the king motors baja! i have found some screws that didnt have locktight....the screws are a bit soft(can strip easy)....the included hex tools are so-so. i still run my baja with the stock electronics and radios. havent had any issues there at all(same radio that redcat uses!)
so, now that i know that the redcat is of the same build quality as my KM baja, i kinda wish i had spent the extra $150 so i would have 4WD.
oh well, maybe next summer i can find a extra $650 to blow on one.

How long ago was this? The last set I ordered from DDM (5-18-10) wore out after 5 tanks which forced me to look to the UK. Since they have been purged Dale is good to go! Minus the pipe unless they fixed that too?

JetPro all the way. I have had 2 of their pipes! I love them and they are well priced. The DDM Dom pipe is nice too.

So, I made some homemade shock tower braces/stiffeners yesterday. They turned out ok. These really strengthen the flex observed from the long shock towers while adding very little weight or obstruction to other parts. I was surprised at how much it stiffened the front of the chassis up. Since these won't have torsional strain, I only focused on strengthening in one axis (i.e. backward/forward motion). I used the engines crankcase and spread the load of the brace across the crankcase a bit. Now I don't have to worry about breaking diff cases from the leverage of the shock towers.

Here is the badass looking tuned pipe from redcat. Not sure how it will hold up, but it looks awesome.

I haven't run it yet; I am still waiting on my shipment from rampagehopups.com. I am hoping that it comes in today so I can run on Sunday.

Those braces Mr. Gribble will really help strengthen your Redcat.

I haven't had much time and I am having a problem with the throttle/brake linkage after adding the HPI filter set. Also, I wasn't completely happy with the stock redcat throttle/brake linkage. I am adapting an HPI 5B linkage set tomorrow.

Also, the gears and center trans mount haven't shown up yet, so I was kind of waiting for those...

Change your throttle linkage to go under the arm. It works fine then.

i'm likin the attention your creating by your review, it's great. i've had my v1 for almost 2 years, it has been through several tanks, 2 national races, several fun runs at largescale rc. i've never had to add bracing, just a few shims in a couple bearing locations, and i couldn't ask for anything better. as a matter of fact my stock plastic 25/35 gears that came with the truck are still goin to this day, they may look like a razor but they just won't give up. so if you ask me, my rampage has been the best investment i have ever made

So what you are telling me is I need to quit overbuilding this thing and just run it as is? She will be run soon. I am meticulous with my rcs and I have to make it my way.

I am very impressed with the support, parts availability and the feedback on being a Rampage owner so far. Overall the experience has been very good.

What rob is saying is the bracing that you have put from the shock towers you don't need and what will happen you will break the pull start housing it is easy to break the way you have it rob and i have raced together for the past 2 years and don't have any bracing on are trucks and they are doing fine. i have the roll cage hoop on my truck and it protects the spark plug i put a link below. That is good information... I did already order the Phat Dad brace though so I think my braces will hold up just fine.

I do have a roll cage hoop enroute also thanks to rampagehopups.com

I guess I must have jumped to conclusions that the shock towers would put undo strain on the diff mounts based on my previous experience. In my experience with 1/10 and 1/8 scale, I have always had problems with shock towers breaking the mounting ears off of the diff cases, so I thought it would be the same for 1/5 scale. So what you are saying is, if it isn't broke, don't fix it?

Got some goodies in! Thanks RampageHopUps! 1 day shipping!

Big ole metal gears

Heavy duty metal roll bar from HBZ to replace the plastic stocker

And a very nice metal gear brace to keep everything aligned just right.

Think I might actually run it this weekend!
