Here is an unedited video of the light crash that lead to the broken turnbuckle. The video is long. Forward to 4:10 and you will see the light jump around 4:15 that caused the break. This link points right to that section.

[link=http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=n5060XbgLh8#t=2 43s]http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_profilepage&v=n5060XbgLh8#t=2 43s[/link]
Dale, I just watched this video, I was at work yesterday and didn't watch it.... wouldn't you say it is totally possible that at 0.18 secs into the video you have a pretty hard head on collision that could of weakened that part that snapped? I have had other RC cars break at point of impact on a hit like that. The other cars tire slammed right into that area. Just saying.....

I do wish you luck with this truck, as I think it's a good truck. And so everyone knows MT = Monster Truck with the large wheels, TT is the Baja 5T Style wheels, and Dune Runner is the Original Baja style wheels. All configurations make a difference on how they perform or take abuse.

I just checked the weight of the redcat TT with no gas it is 31lbs the MT is 36lbs and the XT comes in at 26lbs without the body dale dont get to down it is like any thing you get a bad one now and then yours must have been made on a monday i wish we could get proline to make monster truck bodys for the redcat! some of the stock redcat bodys are more brittle it is hit and miss. I sure hope the worst part is over for you and you can get alot of bashing with that MT
Here's to that dude! Thanks for the encouragement. I always feel like I am getting closer... 36lbs... hmmm, is that with all of the mud off? Any option parts? So my MT is around 33lbs with the Prolines then.
The MT has the optional side jetpro pipe on it i checked rob64n truck because mine is taken apart

That was my son's e-savage and the cameraman's LST that collided. I literally just started my truck up, ran a lap around and then hit the jump. My truck hasn't hit anything yet- it hasn't been running long enough to.

I got the titanium turnbuckles from Python Motorsports, just waiting on the V1 aluminum arms (should be in tomorrow or Tues.). Then I will do that mod and see if I can get some run time out of it.

Got these beauties today!

While I am usually not an aluminum fan, you guys have convinced me that the Rampage will support Aluminum lower arms with proper mod and protect other weaker parts.

i don't like alloy for arms either cos there's none I've not bent from nitro to gas ....except these.... if they were going to bend they would have done so a long time ago...they've taken serious abuse for ages on a 38lb+ porker

Rob, at this point I don't know what else to do. I just want to get some decent run time on this thing... I am open to suggestions.

why would you not suggest it?...granted the rears aren't necessary but to stop the upper front arms snapping and bending all the time they're needed at the front ... in my experience.

hopefully you should get some time out of it now...close to the spec mine was when I finally managed to get 5 tanks without a single thing going wrong...as long as the diff cups have been sorted, (and seems they have been though I've not tried them yet) the only thing i foresee is a broken dogbone pin...that's what gave up after the 5 tank record run

I have the V1 alloy's on mine and they work, 10 tanks no issues but my front diff house did break after 17 tanks, nothing to really complain about as long as Rob or Redcat gets some more V1 diff housings in!

i have a sugestion for you, you seem like you really know what your doing with buying parts and modding them when needed. so for your next large scale, you should costume build one, that way you would be able to build it with little to no weaknesses.

Aye, I've got the desire and resources but I cannot afford the time necessary to take on such an ambitious project at this time in my life.

Mooman, this is for you-

For the mod you pointed out, do I have to do the screw mod to the front and rear of each gear box mount? I assume yes? (8 screws/nuts total)?

If this next round of hop ups doesn't work, I just bought a used 5B_SS as my backup.

The front arms bolted right up with the caveat that I think I will need to add limiting straps or cut the suspension travel stops off of the v3 chassis or limit the shock's maximum travel. It looks like the arms could contact the chassis at full droop which would probably be pretty hard on the plastic gear cases.

I am pretty sure the rear arms will bolt right up also.

thanks dale, always fancied them over the v3 arms cause of the extra bar running down the length, let me know how you get on with the v1 arms thanks

I was right. The V1 chassis didn't have the little suspension arm stops.

See how on the V1 chassis the chassis is straight where the diffs mount?

See how the V3 chassis has little ears where the diffs mount? This is to set the droop on the chassis. I am going to have to cut these off to mount the V1 arms. No biggie.

May I suggest another alternative? Try trimming the brace on the arm until you get the desired droop you want. It will probably save ya some shock issues later on.

yea i did notice them little lugs on the v3 chassis and on the arms have a long grub screw adjustment on them, i never thought anything of it until you mentioned that you had to cut it off, dont know if i want to do that yet, i reckons i will just go for the v3 arms and see how they fare first and if they arent up to much go the v1 arms route
