My First Project
Hello Everyone,
I am new to RC cars (about 3 weeks) and i have begun to make basic outlines anddesignson a dragster.. but not any dragster, one with a Honda CRF 450 or CR 500 engine. I have zero experience with anything radio controlled (other than my friends nitro car) and i will be learning as i go. So far i have just made a basic design which is subject to change in the name of performance and or reliability. Here is my first attempt at a layout of the car.
Any advise/ideas are sought after andappreciated. Please post with any questions.
Thank You, Kevin

RE: My First Project
You wont have to worry about anyone getting hurt with this one it will have many safetyprecautions, such as emergencykill switch, disk brakes, and i will have another backup radio for a full stop setup,
You can be sure of these precautions because at the end of ourdrag wayis a very large open pit used for mining iron ore back in the 1940's, if my car fell down there youwouldn'thave to worry about the car hurting people, only me.

RE: My First Project
I have access to all the materials i just have to pick and choose. I want to use chromoly for the frame, aluminum or stainless steal for the mounting surface, atv rims and tires, as well as an atvaxle, thefrontwheels will mostlikelybe bicycle tires. My main problems are finding a decent engine in my pricerange1000$ total for engine, and the RC stuff which i will need alot of help from your technical guys for that.
This is kinda what im thinking of without a seat and tank.

RE: My First Project
yes hopefully it will be interesting, because if it is boreing it will not get finished. that is why i am going so big. I am also now concidering a racing snowmobile engine, but if i use that there is more cost and work, more fooling around with setup, and it will need to be much heavier and probally 30-50% bigger

RE: My First Project
Sorry everyone, the Kart 500 project will be put on the back-burner for a while due to a recent layoff. hopefully i will find work again soon, and can get back on track, but for now i will have to sell some of my dirtbikes to cover the bills.
Thanks, Kevin
