Should i get a nutech thunderbolt 2?
Hi im new here.24 years old viking from norway, so my english grammar and spelling migth be a little off..
but ill do my best to make it understandable..
jah..
well to the questions at hand.
is the thunderbolt 2 a good vehicle?
durable?
fast?
clever desingn?
easy to maintain?
im quite new to the rc hobby.
¨got 2 el helis
and a team associated sc8 nitro..
so this 1:5 scale fulie is going to be my first..
and i want it to be a good truck.
i have looked at the mcd line.. especially the rr v4 comp.. but read alot of scary rewievs..
then there is the fg line.. and the baja.. but i dont like the belt drive, and it's unnessary expensive.. i think..
and hpi got this new short course truck coming, the baja 5sc.. looks nice but only Rwd thats no good..
and then i found this nutech tb2..
its dirt cheap compared to the others, full alloy for the same price as a plastic fg..
is this in reality a bad thing?
is it bad alloy?
whats best anyways? plastic or alloy arms?
friend of mine has a revo with alloy hubs and he gets this crazy wear and some binding on the steering..
so i dont know what to think about that..
anyways..
tb2..
im probably going to bash my truck alot..
my sc8 gets it hard.. a fulie would get it harder i think.. longer run time = more phunishment..
so is this tb2 up to it?
will it take a truly heavy bash session?
like a blind man in a rocket car bashing?
i read evrything i can find about it.
but there is not much to be found..
i hope you guys and gals can make some sense of my rambling. i sure cant..
thanks in advance....
ah. one more thing.. i read some place that it has 35 degree steering lock..
and this results in a big turn radius..
to big?
or not to worry about?
how many degrees is optimal?
but ill do my best to make it understandable..

RE: Should i get a nutech thunderbolt 2?
Nutechs are the best vehicles under 1000 in my opinion. The best out of the box I mean. The steering lock isnt that bad for the TB2 but it shows a lot more on the Monster Truck model. I have had the base model Monster truck and I now have the TB II SS roller. The TB II SS comes with the new front C-hubs (alloy), alloy engine mounts, and other goodies. It handles real well. Great vehicles, dependable, and well priced. My biggest problem with the nutech vehicles is the Radio box... It's horrible. It's almost impossible to fit an RX/Battery/Kill Switch without warping the box. Plus it uses Screws to fasten it.. If it had a hinge and a clip it would have been FAR easier to work with.

thanks for fast reply from all of you.
i have been wondering if the body from a cen racing matrix 5sc would fit on a tb2. they have exactly the same wheel base.
what do you guys think?
tb2 short course would have been sweet

RE: Should i get a nutech thunderbolt 2?
that was some serious stopping power in that fence..
what broke?
not sure if i like the shape on the nutech sc body..
cen sc body looks a little more scale imo..
and if one took the front and rear bumper from a hpi baja 5sc (nice mud flaps)
and made some sort of "side bumper"
maybe a aftermarket hpi steel roll cage..
and a little chip and a little foose and then you get.. nutec tb2sc with scale realism and mud flaps..
i think it would work.. migth not be bolt on fit, but i have a dremel..
dremel is fine tool for parts persuasion..

Unless you have a race track near you I would stay away from a buggy/sc platform. A monster truck would be more fun for bashing since it has better ground clearance allowing you to bash on grass and rougher terrain.
Just my opinion, on a track a buggy is a blast.
