Yeah nice for an MCD but i have heard of 29cc ported engines ruining some peoples MCD`s drivetrains, with these engines i expect alot of drivetrains having a short life

Don't expect it to be a drop in and run , just in case I have problems with the drivetrain, I already have talk to a machinest who said he would make me some heavy duty drivetrain components if needed.

Just went to RCX yesterday. The new BZM motor is going to run about $800 without a flywheel, iginition, pull start or tapered clutch mount and housing. The engine looks really good in person until you get to the exhaust port. The casting looks poor and they are not ported. They are very rough in that area. Other then that everything else looks top notch. Hense the suprise when i looked at the exhaust port.

man is that interesting. Has anyone else on here had any hands on contact with these engines? I wonder if they just had a rough outer casing of the engine sitting there. But, if thats the case, its a horrible sales case..$800 is pretty steep as well for needing to buy all the other parts to finish it out.

Yea they always look fast running alone, until you put them on a timing system and get real disappointed to find out the true performance you expected, just wasn't there.

Or be surprised when the motor exceeds your expectations and goes faster than you expected. The guy was just bashing he had the tallest gears you can get for the Baja and the motor was toping out in appox 300 feet which means he could get some taller custom gears and have a faster topend maybe set a landspeed record.

You have no practical purpose Tony. When you think about it RC CARS have no practical purpose except to have fun with!! Now why don't you go and do what you do best and play with yourself.

I know this will find it's way into some custom builds as i stated before....also it has more than enough power to get 1/4 scales really moving along at some speed, they've always been underpowered with just the single cylinders and conleys so i'd say it has practical purpose in bucket fulls

I agree with you Mooman. Alot of my friends have said they did not like 1/4 & 1/5 scale because the cars were too slow because of the low hp output of the motors. That is no longer the problem TODAY with your high output Reed 30cc engines, 40cc ,50cc 61cc and BZM mighty mouse 23cc engines!!! The horsepower war is alive and spreading

I hope that changes. I hope the car manufactors get on the big block bandwagon and design a chassis that can handle the power of these big blocks

And what would be the commercial justification? There will never be enough demand for overpowering these cars to move them from being an expensive side distraction. There is just not a huge market for cars capable of destroying their tyres in under five minutes, no matter how exiting they might seem

RE: Horsepower War A Brewing!!!
Wrong Tony there will always be a demand for more horsepower. Look at the 1/10 scale onroad class . In the early days the associated Nitro TC-3 was king of the hill with the low hp .12. But the efficency and power of the .12 motors kept improving. Then these more powerful .12 motors started blowing the diffs out Associated TC-3 . Associated fail to update their car now it is no longer king of the hill for 1/10 scale onroad cars. Car manufactors who don't keep up with the changes in motor efficency and hp are going to lose sales and possibly go out of business. Motors will continue to get more powerful. I am not going to wait on the car manufactors I will modifiy my own chassis to accept a twin. People told me I could not put a .28 in my nitro TC-3 but I did and I solve the diff problem by using steel diff gears. It handled and was wicked fast!! In fact if HPI does not continue to keep updating their Baja the clones are going to surpass them and end up on top !! Just like the Honda did against american car manufactors you can't just sit on your butt and do nothing .

RE: Horsepower War A Brewing!!!
Well, since this is the largescale forum, I will say that for larger horsepower does not always equal better performance. In fact, on a track, there is no advantage to have huge power. Drivability and fuel economy is key to placing high in most races I have seen. Now drag racing is another set of requirements that require the best in horsepower. So I guess if you are talking about that scenario, I get it but in general, I wouldn't buy a engine that will destroy the drive-line just for the sake of power. I also don't a chubby for these expensive-***** engines since majority never get to run on a track anyway.

You have got to know how to setup your car if you don't then you could have a low hp motor and not be able to get it around the track. With a high output motor you must know how to set your car up or else you won't be able to use the extra hp to your advantage. The high output motors are more for the experence driver not the newbies. And you are misssing my point I am not saying that the Inline twins are for the stock Baja I think it is too much power too many wheelies can't win a race when your front end is up !! What I am saying is OBR has provided us with horsepower now the Car manufactors need to step up and make a car that can put the power down. But I am not going to wait on them to do that I am going to modify my own car to accept a twin. The 1/4 scale cars could really use a inline twin they are super slow.
