I assume that includes full radio gear, battery, etc? If no, than its definitely not a good deal. Is the body in good shape? Because a new body will run you $125-$150. If the body is thrashed, you have to consider that in the price.

If it isn't thrashed and doesn't need ANY parts than it isn't a bad deal but it isn't a steal either. I would offer $700 if it is all working in good shape and needs 0 parts. Money is tight for a lot of folks and $700 is still a lot of cabbage. $700 is a good deal on a used 5T in good shape with radio gear, etc. $800 is a bit high for me.

I agree, especially since the 5T is tecnically the older version, although the changes are minimal. Use the argument that its the older version as leverage. I would feel good paying $700 if its in decent shape.

yes it is an actual hpi baja 5t it's in brand new conditon he's only ran it like twice and has all the upgraees i said and yes battery. and radio gear come with it as well. but i could are less about the radio cause ill be gettigna  spektrum dx3rpro sometime soon and have a dx3e right now i can pop into it and 800 is still way cheaper than the msrp of a baja. there are no broken part's at all. anything else i should pay attention when looking it over before i haggle buy it from him. thanks.

I wouldn't compare it to MSRP. MSRP is almost always a ridiculously large number compared to the actual retail price. What is MSRP on the 5t? $2000 or more?

I agree about the MSRP.. those are prices that come from outer space
I think my Revo MSPR was like $1,000, yeah right!
but if its the real deal, offer the guy $650 you might even get a better deal..

Might want to rethink that purchase. Too many bad stories about spektrum equipment. Thats a lot of vehicle that you don't want to lose control of.

I hope I'm not starting a war[&:] but I would use a Futaba FASST on a 5th scale. I've seen a lot off fancy Spectrums loose control of a car and a 5th scale is a lot of weight to loose control of. If all looks well with the truck then get it. If you can, try to get your buddy to let you have a test drive. LOL

Everyone runs Spektrum that I run with and I have never heard of a single mishap?! I run Spektrum in everything with tons of hours running with 0 issues. My stuff is all DSM1 though; not sure if there is a prob with DSM2?

Anyways, don't forget that cash is king. Bring cash and be ready to deal.

I run boats mostly and love the 5 scale scene. On the boat side I've been told to stay as far away as possible with Spectrums. As for the car guys that I ran with I've heard the only way to get the range they needed was to run with the Spectrum Marine receivers, of course these guys did straight line passes in the tripple digits, so that might have something to do with it. I've never owned a Spectrum so all I can go by is others experience. Hey if it works for you than great.

Anyway did you get the truck. Lets see some pics.

if you swing $650 under his nose, it be hard for him to resist.. at most he might say $700 at which point you say ok meet you half way $675 im pretty sure he will accept as its only $100 less than what he wanted (about £70) which aint a lot & not worth losing a $675 sale over, if he says no (which he might to try get the $700 out of you, just say summit like "ah well good luck with the sale then mate but if you change ya mind heres my number (give him ya tel number)" ...then a few things can happen!:

He agrees to $675 as your about to leave
You walk out empty handed
He gives you a ring back

if you walk out empty handed, leave it a day & ring him & ask if he'sure he dont wanna sell it for $675! if he dont budge again then its upto you if u wanna pay the $700 \o/ ...worth a shot but the downside, in that day he might have sold it to omeone else!
