Default Gearing or pipe for new 30.5?

I want to get more top end speed out of my Baja, which has a stock 30.5 with a RD Logics pipe. I was wondering if there would be a more noticeable gain using taller gears or would I be better off with a big bore type pipe? Any recommendations on pipe or spur/pinion combo that would help?

is your motor winding out? you could try gears first- hostile has sets for $30, and thats prolly your cheapest route for speed. if that doesnt help your speed any, than look into a pipe. victory pipes are pricey but worth it-

Have you done a speed test on it to see how fast it's going via GPS or radar?

I haven't. I pull on them from a dead stop but they seem to eventually catch me. Would going down a tooth on the pinion help?

There engines are smaller cc if they are the stock ones. Which rev higher then yours. The larger bore 30.5 will have more low end grunt, but cant get the rev's the 23, 26, etc cc can get. Of course you have the extra torque to pull taller gears. So thats what I would do.

Slap on a set of 19/55 gears and see if you walk away from them...Hostile's set is cheap! I am pushing 21/53 with my ported GP290 and it is crazy!

Holy free translation, Batman!!

To change gears, you need to access the existing gear and swap them out. Make sure the combination of both gears adds up to a total of 74 teeth and you should be good to go. Keep in mind the larger the smaller teethed gear, the taller the gear ratio.
