Default New 2 speed design for Baja

Inovative Hobby has a new 2 speed design made by Integy for the Baja. This new 2 speed is based on the clutch design instead of the pawl. The BSW 2 speed is based on the pawl design. I wonder which one of these 2 designs will put less stress on the drivetrain ?? And which one of these designs will give you the best performance?? Which one of these designs do you think is the best??

......................The brcp that I saw was a pawl based design. The picture below is a brcp tranny. This 2 speed tranny Integy has put out has clutchshoes like the 1/8 scale onroad cars.

I use to race 1/8 scale onroad cars. My first onroad was a BMT 891 Blitz, it had a pawl design 2 speed it was wicked fast but the 2 speed pawl design played havoc on the drivetrain!! I was always repacing drivecups and dogbones. This problem was common for any 1/8 scale onroad car that used a pawl design 2 speed. Then I saw a video by RON PARIS advertising a new design 2 speed tranny that used large clutchshoes I had my doubts , I figured tthis design 2 speed would slip too much........WRONG!! The clutchshoes design 2 speed proved to be superior to the pawl design causing less wear and tear on the drivetrain and faster acceleration because of less rotrational mass on the drivetrain . My Losi LST had a clutchshoes design 2 speed on it and it was awesome!! I believe that the clutchshoe design 2 speed will prove itself superior to the pawl designs eventually.

I used to race Serpent Excels. They also had the 2-speed with clutch. Never had a problem with it.

I believe that is why 1/8 scale switched from the pawl design to the clutchshoe design.

the pawl type are a grenade when they shift. the clutch shoe type have a larger surface area for engagement, so there is less wear on a single point.

Frankly I had never seen the pawl type back then. I really never heard of those until recently. But anyway, the clutch type does work better. It's probably less of a shock load to the drivetrain because the clutch will slip a little before it fully grabs.
