Dunno.... you using the [img] tags straight off Photobucket?
Look at the pics in my thread.
Do they look the same size as the ones in yours on your phone?
Not a huge issue with the pics of your build, but that one of the H-bridge wasn't much use as it's too small....
Could you email it to me if I PM you my address please?

Hmmm beats me.
Unless that's the size they're taken at?
Anyway, that cage looks good!
Oh and thanks for sending me that H-bridge diagram.
I'm pretty sure I've seen that one before and other people have used it as well.
Will be interesting to see how it works out.

You may be able to download an paintnet app for your phone to manipulate your pics prior to uploading them to photo bucket... If not... Get a PC and do soo... It's super simple to alter pics with http://www.getpaint.net/
BTW! your build is coming along nicely..
Examples!

Steering motor.... CHECK!
Scooter tranny cut down.... CHECK!
Clutch shaft accurately cut down to accept bearing and gear, and grinder head bolted to said clutch housing..... son of a b........

RE: 1/4 scale custom sandrail
The idea I have could possibly work, its just that I need to shave off sme of the clutch shaft to accept a smaller bearing, and the angle grinder gear. I cant hope to get that accurate with a drill press. I wonder what it would cost me to have a machine shop do it.....

Yeah if you find a good little engineering shop they should be able to do it for you in between jobs maybe.
A bit hard to say as I'm not quite sure how you're doing it, but another option might be to make some sort of linkage to connect the two?
Or weld the grinder gear on to the clutch output shaft....?

Hmm.. Thats true, maybe I could weld two set screw collars.together to couple the shafts together... This is the shaft and gear.

RE: 1/4 scale custom sandrail
Also.... the small grinder gear most likely has a tapered bore, or is chamfered at the end to lock on to the grinder shaft.
Just saying, as you were talking about resizing the clutch output shaft, and it won't stay on there unless you weld it on.....

Okay im kinda stuck with the clutch/ grinder setup... I was going to try to find a new shoulder screw to fit the bearing and clutch bell, and then a set screw collar and make some kind of coupling, but the clutch bearing wants an odd size. I think its a 9 millimeter, but I cant find any 9 mm stuff anywhere. Also no ase sizes are even close either. My only option looks like having it lathed down to size, or finding a lathe cutting tip and rigging up something on my drill press to cut it down.

But it's worth a shot.
Get yourself a piece of tool steel and make your own cutting tip.
Tool blanks are pretty cheap.
Have a look here > [link=http://www.sherline.com/grinding.htm]CLICK[/link] for some useful tips on how to make lathe cutting tools.

Nice! Thats a pretty cool web page! Very interesting! Also it gave me some ideas, namely that a drill press is not as stable and accurate as a lathe, so if I did cut my own tool blade, it would jump and chatter alot. What if I ground 3 tool blades, and arranged them around the workpeice, so it cuts smoothly?

Put the shaft into your drill press and turn it on. Now take a dremel tool with a cutoff wheel, sanding drum or whatever you're comfortable with, turn it on and go to town. Its ghetto, but if you work evenly up and down the length of the shaft, and keep checking your progress, it works well. Easier and simpler than trying to setup the drill press to do cutting like a lathe in my opinion.

RE: 1/4 scale custom sandrail
The main problem with smaller drillpresses is that the tray has some flex in it.
Support it from below with either a small hydraulic jack or pack it up with timber to stop it moving.
If you're gonna make your own cutting tool I'd set the drillpress vise up nice and secure, put your bit up against the vise jaw that moves, and pack a few little thin shims between the bit and the fixed jaw.
That way you can make a cut, take a spacer out, retighten the vise and do another cut without repositioning the vise itself.
Spin the shaft at high speed and get yourself some good quality cutting oil, not WD-40.
Only use one cutting tool though.
Or if you're going with what Overdrive suggested, I'd still secure the Dremel/grinder in the vise somehow.
Doing it freehand won't be good enough for a gear setup.
If it was sprocket and chain yes, but gears need to be spot on.
Also, remember what I said earlier about the taper/chamfer on the grinder gear.
You'll most likely have to weld it on to keep it in place.
Practise a bit on something else first though, obviously.

RE: 1/4 scale custom sandrail
The great thing about my suggestion is there will be no tool chatter, and the shaft will still be perfectly round when finished. The problem is getting the diameter even for the length of the cut. Securing the dremel somehow could help ensure the shaft doesn't end up looking like an hour glass! It was just a sugestion though, and it would need to be fine tuned according to availible resources and desired results.
Another option that I've used before is to use a grinding wheel/stone (from a bench grinder) secured to the vise/table of the drill press. I had a vice that has the hand cranks on it, secured the stone in it, and used the cranks on the vice to move the stone into the shaft I was "turning" down. This method showed that my drill press had alot of flex in the drill head (above the chuck) and could mess up your work if you try working to fast.
Yea, I need a lathe too, tired of MacGuyvering it!

RE: 1/4 scale custom sandrail
Ive actually done that alot before! The gear isnt tapered, or chamfered but I still need to get it deadly accurate. Maybe if I tilt thedrill press base, and secure the dremel to the base.....

Perhaps one of these 9mm berings would work for your application!

RE: 1/4 scale custom sandrail
This is my updated steering motor, I found a better drill with all metal gears, and a better way to mount the pinion gear. It has a overtorque safety clutch thingy, so that will be my steering saver once I modify it a little bit.
