Cool.

And I'm assuming engine compatibility is standard?
You got it. If you run a Zenoah there is a small issue with the lower bolts on the fan cover but you can either run a CY unit or use different engine spacers that Losi will offer to get the alignment perfect.

Good to know. I'll definitely be picking one of these trucks up. I saw one running in person at a demo for dealers here in NorCal, it was quite impressive. Can't wait to drop a modded motor and pipe into that thing.

As far as tires go, what other brand of tires fit? HPI and their aftermarket options? What sort of wheel hexes does the 5IVE-T use?

Great, that answers any questions I had. I think I'll be throwing some Dune Reapers on this thing..

It will be a while before I consider getting one to make sure it is not like other products Horizon hobby sold where in a year of so they no longer make it and you can not even get parts for it.

Someone on RCLargeScale posted they heard they are waiting to have lots of parts support and until they have plenty of trucks and parts they will not ship. It may be into November is what I read....???? Who knows.... We are ready though. So excited!

I'm hoping they'd make a kit version with some hop ups included. Winter makes this a next spring purchase.

Yeah a kit version would be great. I like kits because I get another 5-10 hours of fun out of them that I wouldn't get with an RTR.

Wonder why it was racing with the buggies? Guess 3rd out of 7 is not too bad.

here's a post from msuk forum by the guy that made the video...the field was actually hopped up 2wd's that it was racing against but it was doing well...it was been demonstrated by horizon uk that's why it was on track with the 2wd's.

it's so big it takes up half the lane

I was watching the Losi race in the final at The Nene Raceway last weekend. Just to clarify a couple of points from that day. As Dave has already said, the car was totally standard from the box, including the radio gear. The steering did loose performance and was limping to the finish. However this was confirmed as a loose servo saver, so no actual breakage or component failure. And that was a shame as the car was in close contention in the top three.

As for performance it was handling the tracks humps jumps and bumps with ease. It was also holding it's own on acceleration against 2wd cars that had hot motors with tuned exhausts. And 2wd in the dry can be quicker. Now it was obvious to see that Jim was a very talented driver. But the real point is the car was very strong straight from the box holding it's own against cars twice the price.

Losi have got it right with their 8eight buggy. They seem to have transferred this tech to the large-scale arena also. As upgrades become available and with time the car will be a formidable opponent at any race track I'm sure.

I have a HD video of the Losi starting in the A final in third spot battling it out, making it's way to first. A great video although only a few minutes long. I will try to pop it on here for all to see when I can. I think you will be impressed.

Add pipe and done..... Really, adding a pipe WAKES these trucks up. I expect to see a lot of pipes come on the market once they are out in the wild. TGN has a line on a couple pipes including the Bartolone pipe that the US Losi team have been testing and runnning out in California. The word on RCLS is that they love it and that its a whole different truck.

I have ran my Losi 5IVE with a OBR 30.5 and a modified DDM pipe and it's so much fun to drive. Really brings it to life.

Mark was it very hard to fit that OBR 30.5 in your Losi 5 ?? Do you think a BZM 50cc could fit ??

No its a drop in fit. Although you need to either change the fan cover or use different engine spacers when using a Zenoah fan cover.

The 50cc will fit, we will make it fit. But a new pipe will need to be made for sure.

Yes two wheel drive is faster do to less weight and friction but on a off road track 4 wheel drive has a BIG advantage in handling over 2 wheel drive! Even if the 2 wheel drive in the race had modified motors the advantage of 4 wheel drive in handling makes them no less then equal. Most know the difference between the handling between 2 and 4 wheel drive!

TGN is taking out their Losi 5IVE-T to the dunes today for Dunetoberfest 2011 at Buttercup recreational park near Yuma Az and Ca border. Come out and play with us!

Or just watch updates over the weekend, they may be limited due to internet but we will do our best.

You can also see a lot of images and video from the recent media we posted on Hostile Bajafest 2011. Check out the top two posts!

I'll always love the Baja because I like 2wd stuff, but I also like 4wd and this seems like a good one. Though, we'll see how HPI's 4wd is, but I do like gas more than electric for large scale stuff.

I love how you prefer something you have never ran or seen in person.. Fanboys will be fanboys...It was the same thing when HPI came into the scene, all the fg fanboys were saying the same stuff...times changed since then and I think they will change again.
