Does anypone own this 1/5 Monster Truck from Hobbyking?
Found this on E-Bay. I used to own a awesome FG MT I dumped a ton of money into and sold (big mistake!). SO while searching for a new one I came across this. Anyone have one? Any feedback? It looks VERY much like the FG MT........

I did just read some reviews. Looks like some FG parts will fit. I read that the small diff gears aren't the best and tend to strip so guys ar using hardened FG gears. Plus its 4x4. Hell I paid over 1500 bucks fir my 2 wheel drive a few tears back. Im really wanting someone on here to give me more info. Im most likely going to get it. Can't beat that price for a 1/5 4x4!

Cheap to start with does not necessarily mean it will be cheap once you get it to be reliable. I do not any thing about that vehicle but most times you get what you pay for. Keep us posted and let us know how it turns out and good luck.

I do buy some smaller items from the king such as batteries, esc', connectors etc but i know i am taking a gamble and may regret it later. I am willing to risk it for low cost items but the thought of buying a $400 - $600 complete rig from them and having to spend much more to make it some what reliable only to end up dealing with the shotty customer service ticks me off.
Been there, done that boys!
This is how the king gets you. They are hoping you wont save for a while longer to buy a quality rig. They know its hard for most of us to save and when we see something that "looks" cool we impulse buy. Do your research and think on it for a bit. We work too hard for our cash to just piss it away. Don't buy a copy-cat clone! Buy the original from the original and you will be happier in the end.
Good luck

Yeah at that price it can't be that bad. Considering the price of FG 4x4s... this is less than half. I'm sure it's decent enough for the price.

THANK YOU FOR ASKING THESE QUESTION!!!
I was Seriously thinking about getting this truck
Its belt driven 4wd so it was right up my alley for something 1/5 and different. For some reason I was concerned about the clutch being a pile of crap (no idea why) but hearing about the diffs really helps me narrow down my choices.
Think im just going to stick with getting a redcat dune runner[:-]

My Rovan monster truck showed up today,
I took to tearing it apart to check every thing out,
Mine came with alloy engine mounts, cvd's and ball drive ends at the diff cups,
The belt drive system is well greased from the factory and the tires are gonna be real hard wearing,
Probably won't ever need a new set,
I have noticed one of the front upper arm adjusters slightly bent, and one front and rear hub don't have the bearings seated properly,
The clutch bell gear is steel as is the spur gear,
I have noticed the plastic is pretty strong and has some needed flex to it,
Won't know how it drives until after I rebuild it, but the tuned pipe is huge and has a good finish to it,
Il post some pics tomorrow.
