Well, while everyone cannot afford to purchase a higher-end model one must realize two distinct facts.
One: When buying something expensive at the expensive price you might either get exactly what you are paying for in terms of quality and service or you may end up just paying for a name.
Two: When buying something which is usually expensive and is sold at a much less than expensive price you will again either get what you paid for or even less in terms of quality and service, but certainly not more.
That said, if your experience with a discount product is less than that of a higher priced one it is a result of how it was produced to bring it to you at the lower price. Im not one to reccomend going the cheapest route, but if it is what you want at a price you are comfortable with you may want to try it out. Just don't expect to get a Ferrari for the price of a Honda. In the end you usually got what you paid for. Have fun and enjoy it!

A friend of mine has one... it's a pile of crap, and not worth $500.

It's a good enough starter vehicle for those not wanting to drop 1200-1500$ out the gate and it lets you know what to look for in your next RC purchase. Parts are cheap so that's one positive!

RE: Announcement: Redcat X-SC
Well let's start this off by saying I own one of these and also my Lil brother. We both got them the same time from
Ramtech. I am not choosing sides or am I saying these are as good as model "X". All am saying is these are not for the "I don't know how to work on my own stuff so I listen to everyone esle" type of person. These are made for poeple like me "Go outside and throw these guys down crank them up and mash the skinny pedal and bash the hell out of them" type. Are they broke right now. Yes both are. Mined has the center of the wheels melted out(my fault. 45 minutes of donuts on concrete) brothers pipe coupling melted, chassis treaked from falling back to earth from reentry(damn thing was prolly 50 feet up). Thinking about buying two more and use these as spare parts. Like grandpa use to say "they are what they anit" they are not top of the line rc 1/5 scales. They are some of the most fun I have ever had. And they will run again and they will break again.

Sorry damn Gopro mount couldn't hack it. Still think the crater bro's made is still there. 20 pounds of RC makes a noise when it hits nose first that will never be forgotting.

Alot bash on the Redcat line up but funny thing is most of the name brand parts will fit them hence one of my 1/10th scale trucks uses the HPI parts i like these 1/5th scale trucks reliable enough for the price thing is people got to understand is they are a piece of crap cause you dont know how to drive them i have videos bashing and trying to destroy some of these trucks and they hold up great.. not to mention in process of tig welding some custom parts for all the redcat trucks

A sub $500 dollar 1/5 vehicle is going to have some issues that are going to pop up. Luckily, most issues that you're likely to come across have some sort of low budget solution that has been thought up by one of the creative people in the RC community. For example, cutting up hitch pins to use as dogbone pins because, back when I owned a rampage, it threw almost every single one of it's pins before I found a way to keep them planted.
I miss my rampage.

Its a matter of doing some reading to know what to fix before running them. Although they are not ready to run, with much less than a Baja can be put to run strong.
There are plenty of these models with typical upgrades that anyway the big boys do, and are smokin the competition.
For sure the Redcats are one underdog to look for.
Visit redcatrampage and large scale forums to see that they can be modded to the t. Tons and tons of upgrades for them at half the price of other brands.

Some of you need to watch what you say in people's product announcements. I've deleted comments that range from irrelevant 'my friend this, my friend that', to downright inappropriate 'this product is crap' or whatever.
You all know where RCU stands on this kind of manufacturer bashing and 'fanboyism' or its polar opposite.
If you can't say something constructive (even if its not positive) then don't bother. Thanks.
