RE: Nutech 5SC Build
Great to see you have another Nutech build Brian, I have the TBIII buggy and loving it! All the upgrades required from the TBII have been done and handles and drives so much better. I have been using mine straight from the box which I received from the factory as a roller. I fitted a 4 bolt CY27cc motor, Hitec servos and custom made side pipe. I have done 2 rounds of our race series and the plastic gears have held up fine but I did remove the cover to allow for better cooling of the gears. At the moment I am 2nd behind a race trimmed out MCD V4 and most of the others in my class are all MCD's.
3rd round is this weekend so will be changing a few things like diff and shock oils to suit our track hopefully get on top of the MCD's!
Cheers Bryan Taylor

Nice tear down pwaicon, as for the new hub bearings I've been running my TB III and TB II brushless electric with the nylon spacers since the end of last season and still haven't seen and wear to the nylon or the hubs. I was able to find those 12x22x7 bearings just in case there was a issue but I haven't needed to install them yet.

Pwaicon you always meticulously put in great attention to detail in these builds. [8D] very nice ! I have been out. Can't wait to see the video.

Nutechracingusa,
Thanks for the link to the bearings. Glad to hear you haven't had in issue with the stock bearings and spacers.
rckiwi,
Sounds like you are having good success with the TBIII and giving the MCD's a run for their money. I am also not planning on running the gear cover so it is good to hear the stock plastic gears are holding up for you. Good luck this weekend!!
Noyb,
Thanks. Since Milestone closed I haven't had much track time with any of my cars, so it looks like the SC5 is going to see more bashing than track time. As for attending Power Jam....I would love to make the trip, but it is not looking good at the moment.[]
NUNCHUCKSKILZ,
Good ideal.

Finishing up the steering and installing the side guards. I decided to notch out the side guard on the gear side. The gear cleared the guard so it wasn't necessary, I just wanted a little more space around the gear.

There is nothing wrong with the current versions of Nutech's plastic diff cases or outer housings!

I can't see any advantage in trimming the side guard like you have?

I just figured if later down the line I started to play around with the gearing ratios there might be a clearance issue, so I figured I would just take care of it now so I wouldn't have to take them off later if it there was an issue. But you are probably right, there is no real advantage and probably wasn't really necessary.

Finishing up the front end and starting on the bumpers and again I added some longer bolts with locking nuts on the lower arm mounts.

Finishing up the front bumper and starting on the rear. The front bumper looks like it should hold up nicely...the rear I am not so sure of.

RE: Nutech 5SC Build
Installing the rear bumper and the shocks. I decided not to mess with the shock....they are not my favorite thing to work on, besides they didn't change anything on the shocks from what I can see. The wheels and tires look to be decent for a RTR. I haven't tired it yet but I am pretty sure that any tire that would fit on a HPI 5T or a Losi 5IVE should also fit on the Nutech SC5 wheels.

RE: Nutech 5SC Build
Installing the engine, I decided to go with Gizmomotor's 30.5 long bock engine, and a Nutech 3shoe clutch. I also added an FG radio box to the side of the sock one to give me some much needed extra space. The radio box on the Nutech is just too small for my liking, that is one thing they didn't change that I wish they had.

RE: Nutech 5SC Build
Installing the rollcage and pipe. I decided to use the Samba pipe from my Titan, it worked well on the Titan so I think it should work well on the SC5. The Samba isn't the loudest pipe but it has a nice smooth power band and it fits under the body. Speaking of the body, I cut the body where it was hitting the top of the rollcage, this allows the rear of the body to sit lower. Overall the truck went together nicely, there were no fitment issues with any of the parts. My main concern is the rear bumper and I would have really preferred a clear body so I could have painted it myself. A complete redesign of the body wouldn't be a bad ideal either.

Im thinking of using the HPI rear hub/bearing setup.. I already replaced the stock bearing with avid bearings.. and there is tons of play already...

I have been trying to decide between this and the Mega beetle any thoughts? also can you use there factory radio gear or is it sub par like HPI's.
