RE: HPI Baja Carbon Tie Rods
Yeah, I run the FLM arm kit and I bent their set they sent which is a solid aluminum shaft. I bent the rod that threads in the outside side. So the Plastic end was crooked visibly. I took the same plastic end on that set, sunk it down on one of those carbon arms, and the titanium pulls the plastic end right up against the locknut straight again under pressure. so bashing, they have taken hits, and the carbon isn't like helicopter tails, its the same inside diameter of the ti outside. so the tube can't crush or flex, I even took the lock nuts super tight seeing if the carbon would crush, and two small wrenches got pretty darn tight I would say, I had the wrenches to the point it was hard in may hands (however many in-lbs that is )and the carbon didn't bow out, snap or anything. but I do have a BZM50 15HP engine right now and I am in a mode or state where I am trying to make it look sick, heh so I like them on there for looks tooI must admit. But! The rods haven't let the plastic ends move yet. they lock up with flange teeth against the plastic; and titanium is a nice metal too BTW.
