Biggest R/C Tanks .

RE: Biggest R/C Tanks .
Biggest real tank... What about "heaviest" real tank. One may be just slightly larger but weigh tons more. Then there is the difference between a production tank and a non-production tank.

One of the local hobby shops sells R/C tanks. They are not as long as my 1/4 scale though they are taller with the turrent. I'm not sure what scale the tanks are since I didn't really take the time to look at them since they are of lower quality (and I'm sure they weren't Nikko). Perhaps, the next time I'm there I'll note the brand name and scale then post the information.
However, your question may be better answered searching military sites for drones and test equipment especially since there are unmanned aircraft or uninhabited aerial vehicles, such as the Predator, Shadow, and Fire Scout. Here is one military site to get you started on your quest: http://uav.navair.navy.mil/smuav You may also want to search using the phrase "future combat system (FCS)" or systems since one is based on a 20-ton class and the other on a 40-ton class such as the M2A2 Abrams. DARPA would also probably be a good place to search since they are in charge selecting the teams. http://www.arpa.mil

I didn't have any problems with any of the links. Perhaps, it's the "French Connection". Some may never forget what happened to NATO and SHAPE.

There are probably larger R/C tanks though if that 1/2 scale is based on a lighter 24 ton tank. It is a cool looking R/C, but a 1/2 scale King Tiger should dwarf the Sturmhaubitze.

Well in a round about way the "civilian" link you posted does link to a DARPA link.
http://www.darpa.mil/grandchallenge/index.htm As the link I just posted claims, "Real Scale Robotics".
The main link for the "Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency" is: http://www.darpa.mil It used to be called ARPA, then DARPA, then ARPA, and DARPA once again. I don't know what your background is but you may find DARPA interesting since one may consider it an R&D "think tank" into much more than military applications. Ever hear of ARPANET? ....Internet!
Edit: By the way, it doesn't matter if the link is darpa.mil or arpa.mil --it works either way.

The DARPA Grand Challenge was recently completed though the farthest entries only completed 7 miles of the trek. Some interesting and some very large scale vehicles. Photos and videos are on the site link I posted earlier (#12).
