Aluminum roll cage.
I think I want to purchase an aluminum roll cage (or at least the small little back piece) to support my tuned pipe. Maybe this isn't a good idea since my plastic one takes a beating and bends back. Anyone have experience with this? Does anyone know who sells one?

I think that Magic Raven sells a partial aluminum roll cage, but it doesn't extend all the way to the rear where the exhaust bolts on. I'm just about finished building my aluminum cage out of 3/8" aluminum bar stock to replace the entire plastic cage....I'll post some pictures this week once I'm done.

RE: Aluminum roll cage.
Okay...here are the first pictures of my aluminum roll cage for my MB. I'm not completely finished with it yet since I still need to drill and tap all the holes for the body posts and the Samba pipe mounting location. Also, these pictures were taken before I started cleaning up the TIG welds, so it looks better now than the pictures indicate.
The cage is entirely hand-made out of 3/8" solid aluminum bar stock with 1/4" aluminum bar stock for the gusset bars on the rear wing support. I still can't decide if I'm gonna use aluminum body posts or if I will use the stock plastic ones. At this point I'm kinda leaning towards plastic so that they will act as a "fuse" in the event of award-winning barrell rolls (that I've been known to accomplish). I'll post some additional pictures once everything is complete.

RE: Aluminum roll cage.
MMr Racing do an alloy cage. There are a couple on ebay.co.uk at the moment.
Personally I think the front cage is not really needed and they dont make the rear section which seems to break alot

Hi CowboyBob.
Do you think that integrating a rollbar that came out of the top of the marder shell (The bit where you lift it) would be of any use?
I have seen some pics of a guy on ebal selling an add on roll bar, but the way it fastens to the plastic dont look that nice.
The roll cage you have put together looks fantastic.
I wish I could get my hands on something like that.
Regards

There are always a ton of aluminum bits and pieces (suspension arms, etc.) on Ebay for the Marder series. They typically don't mention the manufacturer. I was just wondering with the ebay discussion in this thread if anyone had ever purchased their aluminum parts off of Ebay and if the parts were good quality.

Cookiez,
I haven't seen any pictures like what you are describing so I'm not sure how much use it would be. Although its pretty safe to say that the aluminum probably wouldn't break (although ti may bend) like the plastic will.
