Default Burnt Battery Pack Wires???

When I bought my marder used, It came with a Trinity 3000 nimh pack with 20 or 22gauge wire and a Hitec female end on it. one day it just caught on fire during a run (more like a sizzle ) and melted just the wires.
I was wondering if I can just solder new wires onto the pack, which really isn't burnt or Is something wrong with the pack for this to have happened & I should just buy a new pack?

Are packs with this rating suppose to only have 20/22g wire?

Thanks

remove the wrap and check if none of bars shorts the wiring connections.
