Here check out this bad boy. Sure is interesting isn't it. Just may have to pick one up in the spring. Would like to see some real world testing thou. I read that some of the pro's did some racing with em and said they were good. Very interesting. Just thought i would show ya all some of my surfing findings.http://www.spektrumrc.com/

2.4ghz..... Exactly the same frequency as my wireless network and cordless phone. I guess it could run into some opposition in this country.

Yeah, thats what I don't understand about it. Same here in the USA. My portable phones and my router are the same frequency. Unless there is something more technical to it that I'm missing, I think you could have problems running your model anywhere near a residential area.

It is the same frequency all over the world, a so called free frequency. You can have any sort of radiocomunication on that frequency as long as you follow the same rules as everybody else. That means you can buy radiogear anywhere and use it anywhere.
No more need of crystals, the transmitter and reciever finds a free channel by them self, one of 79. Longer range.

Only downside is the price, hopfully it drops in a few year.

Edit:
It is also possible to send data back from the car/boat/airplane. Just like in real racing
