Default Samba pipe - what should I pay?

What should I expect to pay for a Samba for my Marder? I have found one for around £145, is that about right?

Best wishes,

Luke

Thanks for the help...

In the end I've just picked up a nice new one from my local shop for only £130 !!!

I had to extend the roll cage slightly by splicing a couple of 1cm extension pieces into the top section because there is now way it'll fit otherwise... The 'u' section that runs from the manifold extends forwards too much, and the pipe is fitted as far over the manifold as it will go.

Anyone else had the same problem?

Now I've just got to figure out how to cut the body

I worked out how to cut mine (clearance for fg pipe) by taking a side on photo with the body on and no pipe, then taking a second side on photo with the pipe fitted and no body on.Then comparing the two photos should give you a rough idea where to cut.I used a Pair of surgical scissors to cut the body followed by a fine file and finished off with wet/dry paper. Hope this is of some help.

Mine was a bargain I must admit :

As for the body, use the marks in the shell to get you started, plus you have to remove half the side window Then squeeze the shell on and see where its hitting. Took me about 5 mines start to finish.

Before you spend all that money ask yourself a couple of simple questions, am i just buying this for the "bling factor" and the noise it makes, am i going to race this car therefore i need more power and does it really make all the diference people says it does. Another thing to bear in mind is all that weight will make it roll easier, you have to cut a huge chunk of your shell away.

just a few thoughts

Mike

Hi Mike,

Well, having used it once before discovering the holes in it, I must say that I like it alot. I prefer the power delivery generally - particularly as it provides a much better spread of torque throught the rev range.

I also prefer the sound - it is a lot less 'harsh' than the stock 'box'.

I only bash, not race but being a kind of 'techy' sort of person I prefer having a more refined exhaust on my engine - particularly as a two stroke exhaust is such a fundamental aspect of the engine.

On balance I think it was well worth getting.

Cheers,

Luke

...I know that my local bloke hasn't got another in stock, so I'll tr the FG one as a replacement.

...Unless anyone tells me I shouldn't

Which poses the question...

I've got both but got the Samba as its steel and hopefully much stronger than the fg pipe. My FG pipe is so out of shape now i'm surprised the motor still runs as well as it does.
