Default FG PROBLEMS, BREAKAGE, ETC, POST IT!!!!

Hello all!
OK, lets make this the spot to post all the issues you may have with your new or old FG product. Post it all here, weather it is a part breaking or engine issues. When you post your issue please let us know what type Marder, MB, MT etc, new or old, how old, what type of engine it has. If it is somthing to do with a part breaking let us know what you were doing when it broke, jumping, rolling, falling off a mountain etc..

I bought a Beetle RTR, from Hobbythek and the stupid thing wouldn't start. I broke the starter-ratchet when trying, and had to strip my CAT-truck for the total recoil to continue. It started at last, but left me with a lame arm for half an hour [:@].
The Beetle is fitted with a Zen 260 and the CAT with a Zen 230RC1-which never had caused any probs so far. (crossed my fingers)

Rear spoiler on my off-road Beetle went bye bye. I was totally blown away that it was the only thing that broke. Tried to take on a curb head on- Beetle nose dived and started a violent kart wheel series. Spoiler snapped on one of the first couple kart wheels. I am amazed. I beat the live'n crap out of it and that was the only thing to break. Also cracked the underbody tray (don't get it as it will break). Get the MB mounts if you want the Beetle body on your Marder. Also put a crack in the fender area of the Beetle. Won't be a problem as it will be cut off for the MB conversion that is in the process.

Mt couple of small jumps on the first ten mins of run in and the shock tower broke in 3 pieces.
I normaly thrash and bash, but this was very unexpected due to how gently I was treating it.
Mt shell is made of very poor quality lexan. Splits to easily

Marder and Beetle seem bomb proof compared to this thing.

Newish marder race,--1.Wheel bearings seem weak, replaced 2,1 after minor roll, other after doin nothin!!

2.Debris in starter housing (jammed),covered with zinc reinforcing mesh for fibre glass kits now,no further probs

3.c.v. boots came loose, used a bit of contact adhesive(headless cable ties better?)

4.Warmed wheel drive grub screws with fag lighter after nearly rounding them, came out pretty easy with decent wrench.

Thats about it,seems a sturdy bit of kit to me,compared to the nitro repair queue at the local model shop on the 27th.....

Marder...

Front hubs
All rear arms.
Spoiler
Diff
Shell
Roll Cage
Loads of Ball ends
Lost engine mount screw
2 x 60mm gear carriers (one lasted 15 mins max)
Fuel return line
Lost a tie rod (rear)

All in about 5 tanks of fuel

All down to abusive driving on my part I reckon (apart from the gear carriers)

Slowly buyin alloy parts to replace them all to try and increase running time to over a tank of fuel. Other option is to stop abusing it

Dubby tried the "my controler has a flat battery" excuse yesterday. So I lent him one of mine.
In true Dubby tradition within half a tank if that, wheel hub was knackerd.

Leo Race

One the first tank in cold weather fully charged battery starts loosing power and fail safe kicks in starting to push the brake constantly. Also during installation could not fit in Radio Box - the body mount was not giving enough space.

MB - Starting for the second time - pullstarter broken - did not fix it yet.
During change of shock oil the screw or bolt holding the low part of shock in the lower suspension arm at the back of the car gets broken while still being inside. Had to cut part of suspension to take it out.

MT broken rear hub, front hub, pullstarter, piston/ring siezed and today lost a tooth off diff gear. Mainly due to abuse also bodyshell sucks rips to pieces after a few rolls and cartwheels and wheelies wreck the rear of the shell. Despite all this i still love it to pieces.

The shell posts on the MB are to weak they snap because of a large hole drilled half way down them when rolled, which then causes the roll bar to snap in various places.

Also the MB just keeps rolling and bouncing if it is turned over a high speed and there is no stopping it, well maybe a tree

Have you tried a diferent grade of shock oil to see if that helps Kev?
I have some 45 and 50 here if you want to try it.

I have changed a lot of front-uprights in my truck, since we here in Denmark are not allowed to use any alloyparts in the raceseries for trucks. I also change an A-arm or 2 over the year...[:@]

CHIPPED TOOTH ON 6048 GEAR
My MB, with the Zenoah G26 engine chipped a tooth on the rear 6048 gear on the 2nd tank of fuel.. I was doing some small jumps when it happened... Replaced it with the 6048/1 and have had no problems. FG has since started using a bigger, wider gear.

SCREWS COMING LOOSE
On my 2 or 3rd tank of fuel I lost a bolt from the front upright on my MB. All the power and vibration loosens up the screws/bolts quickly on these FG products. Make sure you check all your bolts/screws OFTEN...

CHIPPED TOOTH ON 6048 GEAR
My MB, with the Zenoah G26 engine
I thought your MT had the CY?????

Have I misread the multitudinous posts about your MT where you are decrying the CY engine and saying you wish yours had the Zenoah?

The part number for the rear suspension arm on the mt is wrong.
You need to cut the lupms off the original arm and fit them to the part number fg show on the diagram.
If that makes sence

Completely stripped the pinion gear today, and i mean completely. To look at you wouldnt even know it used to be a cog

Now replaced it with a 19t steel one. Maybe that will stop it from spinning everywhere

Also broke a side guard today and yet another ball end.

And.............. put a mega dent in the side of my samba But then thats what happens when you slide sideways into a metal goalpost I suppose

Wonder what will be next

I have had my FG MB for just over a month and have ran about 1 1/2 Gallons of fuel through it. In that time I have broken the following:

1 Rear Upper Wishbone
Numerous Body Posts
Roll Cage
Spark Plug & Cap
Both Rear Hubs
2 Wheel Squares
Rear Spoiler
K & N Air Filter

I have given up with the FG body posts as they only last around 5 mins due to that hole in the middle. I have tried making them out of various plastics and metals, but they all seem to bend or snap. I think I have only ran my MB for around 1 tank with the shell on. I am looking at mounting the shell from a different location or welding up a larger roll cage to reduce the length of the posts.

I have made up a roll cage out of metal tubing, which is lasting up quite well

Here is a short video of my MB

no the one in the parts diagram is correct, 06072/02 Adj. rear lower wishbone Monster, 1pce.
you must of gotten a 6072/01, or it was mispackaged.
