Now she wheelies!!! - Video link too
Well, after putting on the pipe and tuning her up she wheelies like a goodn'
Unfortunately, my red mist got the better of me and I managed to flip her end over end, resulting in a broken brake rod, and breaking the primer return nipple off the carb.
Judging by the three dents in the underside of the tuned pipe I suspect that the pipe smashed downward into the brake rod taking it clean off, then carried on sidewards and smashing into the carb.
Below is a link to a video of the crash - count the flips! You can clealy hear the point at which the bl**dy exhaust manifold connector came away from the manifold by the changed exhaust note. It makes a real nasty sound when it lands and I have no idea what the bit that flies off is!
Have a look at this... http://www.rcpics.net/img/46058 (you'll need to click the 'click to watch' link)
Now, can anyone tell me where I might get a replacement part for the carb. It seems to need replacement of the whole upper plastic body because the nipple is 'fixed' into it. The part number is: T2070-81210, description is: Body-A (from the .pdf engine manual.
Well, I finally got what I asked for in the form of wheelies! Now I just need to grow up enough to handle it!!!
Enjoy the video!

Cheers Dubby,
I'll try glueing but it has broken right at the thinest point near the body and I doubt that it'll hold.
I'll call my lawnmower man on Tuesday!
Best wishes,
Luke

Yeah - exactly! It's not a monumental smash but it seems that even a minor spill can do these things a lot of damage
I guess it's the added weight of a model this size that carries a lot of momentum, therefore doing a load of damage.
It would be nice to get through a full tank without being out of action for a few days each time!

Just a little tip from a Pro......... no not me, it was told to me by a Pro............
On the brake arm, take the bolt out of the top and remove the bent wire arm that the rod fits through, file a flat on the arm where the bolt would touch it, then put it back together, only this time use a grub screw to tighten down onto it, then when that's tight screw another grub screw down onto that to keep it nice and tight.
This will give you a vital extra few mm's between the top of the arm and the pipe, sometimes the pipe actually rests on the arm before this mod causing the brake to be extra difficult to apply.
Thank you and goodnight...................

FGUK - thanks!
I'll do that when I get a new brake rod.
However, the pipe moved so much (i.e. was completely detached at the manifold end) that I doubt it would have saved it!
Cheers,
Luke

Hi Luke, just watched your (very short) vid, looks and sounds very familiar! Have you tried a tie wrap on the thickest part of the pipe to the roll bar? I have on my Samba and it hasn't moved much since, there'll be those that'll say it will melt, mine hasn't yet.............. Has to be very tight though!

i put the unbreakable bumpers, front and rear on my marder, available from krikke and they have kept me front going over like that. when mine wheelies it just rests on the rear bumper until i let off. give em a try.
