RE: Aluminum Rims for FG Marders???
i have yet to find some
i don't think i would either maybe on the road cars just for show, but off road
you don't want the extra unsprung weight. and at this size ally will be more weighty
get the plastic ones chromed but it will soon come off when you start bashing the car about

RE: Aluminum Rims for FG Marders???
Thanks guys...
ibstar... I understand your view... BUT I wouldn't think weight would be that big of a deal... considering there are alloy monster rims out already for a 2-3 month old RC with quit a bit more mass than a marder rim!?!?
dazz... thought about your idea... Just something about "Shiny" Alloy though...
I personally would LOVE a set of polished "5-star" marder rims!!! SWEET!
[X(] ... "hint""hint" to any machinists out there reading this[sm=lol.gif]

RCholic,
I think I saw what you want (the 5-star marder rim in alu) at JP'S MODELSHOP - [email protected]
It's a belgian shop, I just don't know if he's selling by postorder.
Gifmenger.

RE: Aluminum Rims for FG Marders???
Less weight in a wheel=quicker acceleration, better handling. It takes quite a large amount of torque to start turning unsprung mass(Ibstar you are spot on)so the lighter the wheel the quicker the acceleration(this works on any scale)so if you want performance stick with the plastic wheels or go for looks and get the alloy ones Which will be heavier. It`s your choice at the end of the day.Mind you if any one has any old alloys out there that they would kindly donate to me for free,i promise to polish them to a mirror finish before bunging them on my marder.

Carbon fibre will brake instantly within 3 minutes!
Alloy 7075 might be a sollution for the rims but it will be very hard to equal the weight of the "plastic" ones.

Would have thought the 6082 stuff would have been better. Aircraft alloy. Nice 'n Light. Harder to get a shiny finihs on it IMHO.
Re, the wheels? to play the old song..... [link=http://www.jaracing.co.uk]J&A Racing[/link] will have just the job.
I really hope they start paying me for this.
I just seem to phone up, get a price that's half that of others, then receive parts not too long after the call. Works for me.

RE: Aluminum Rims for FG Marders???
To be honest, I don't think I'll be having them, have just had a Postage Quote and it's almost as much as the wheels cost!
I think I'll have to wait until they become available in Europe.
Thanks though!

Yeah, $150.00 to ship to Europe with insurance is a bit steep. It should be just a matter of weeks before someone out there comes out with them. Good luck and sorry I couldn't help you.

UPS and FedEx are VERY expensive to Europe, I try to order at places that are willing to use USPS, that is a LOT cheaper, but also slower.
If memory serves me right, then you can also ship Insured with USPS.

usps offers no real tracking or insurance also, a risk the consumer would have to carry, we have sent a good number to shops in europe so they should be showing in the next couple of weeks.
