Default MARDER MISSES ON FULL THROTTLE

My Marder misses on full throttle. I've changed the plug, stripped and cleaned the carb and fitted a new gasket. The carb is set at the factory settings.
I've fitted a K&N filter and a samba exhaust , is this causing the problem?

Around the filter. if anywhere.

Have you retuned the engine to compensate forthe pipe and filter?

Do you think it should go richer to compensate for the extra air?
What needle should be adjusted L or H

Deltron63 your`e running to lean mate stop before it all goes pear shaped.Turn the high speed screw(the one to the left marked H) one 1/8 to one 1/4 anti clockwise at a time till it runs sweet if this dosn`t cure you have one major air intake leak.

if its lean i thought you wanted more fuel ? so turn the needle out (anticlockwise (left))
not in (clockwise) that will make it even leaner ?

A rich engine will make it couch and splutter, hence my suggestion of weakening it

what it to be then chaps, richer or leaner?
i think i should start of rich then lean it out a bit.
on tick over and normal throttle it fine, only when i give it the big one it spluttters.

Ibstar if this reply is meant for me i did say anticlockwise?I just can`t see a two stroke engine with a free flowing pipe and fillter,on standard carb settings, running rich.Although i have Known to be proved wrong.

Yes first go anticlockwise to richen the mixture as this will do the motor no harm.Go leaner on an already lean motor and it will sieze/break/cost money to fix.

Go anti-clockwise on the H needle first this will richen the top end but will not damage the engine, if it runs worse go clockwise this will weaken/lean the mixture.

when lean it will seem like it stutters on the top end.
when rich it will be dull and just not sing on the top end.

I had a similar problem after changing the air filter.
Had not put the carb gasket in place properly

Now if its the cy engine you have, it might need the carb cleaning out

The latest up date on the missing:
I warmed the engine up, took it for a high speed pass and the vioce in the back of my head said " take it over the big jump". I shouldn't have listened. it came down on it's arse and did loads of damage!
It should be fixed by the weekend, so i'll try again.
