Default radio freq interferance

rfi caused by the engine can this be stopped i have fitted a sheiled cap and it has made little differance, iam running am 27 meg and with the engine running and ariel fully up i am only getting about 30 feet range before the throttle and steering servos start to glitch ,i have tried a different receiver ,transmitter and different crystal set and with no other cars running ,so i would imagine that with more cars the worse it would be ,would simply changeing to fm cure all of the problems or would i still encounter the same problems,if it would cure it could some one explain why it would be cured thanx guys.

I am running with an older Graupner/JR AM Transmitter(XR-4 Race) without problems. have run the car at distances up to 100-120 meters without glitching.

I am planning an upgrade to FM, might go for the Graupner/JR XS-6 Synthesised system.

i too have to solve this problem,
i used hitec 40, 2 complete sets, and futaba 40. still got range problems
and to be honest i'm so fed up with it the marders sat in the garage
while i run the electric.[X(]
but as for the 27 get off it.
everything uses the 27 freq, C.B.s, kids rc toys, walkie talkys, some pagers, etc

I have that same problem with hitec 40 FM radios. We have allso tried Futaba radios with having the same problem. Once I tired my old AM radio and there was no problem. Now I have tried better spark plug and better ignition cable and no difference. The FG told us that they now this problem exist and their opinion is that the ignition causes the trouble. They are planning to make some shield over the motor. 1/5 scale cars seems to work because the motor is in different position. I really too hope that this problem should be solved as soon as posible!!

the specktrumrc web site has said its great but not yet available for nearly 8 or 9 months now. I read it in May/June last year before I had large scale.

I wonder if it will ever arrive. kinda strange though its at a reduced price before its available

all radios i tried have been fm, both single and dual conversion
new batterys
rerouting cable
new battery pack
new switch harness.
what really gets me is that it did it when i first got it, then it went away, i could run as far as i could see across the common, now its doing it again.
will change a few bits later, if i can be bothered.

Have someone tried aluminum tape inside the receiver box. The tape is like alufoil with adhesive on the backside. i think that will block any signal on its way in to the receiver, just like a "FARADAY CAGE"( http://www.lbagroup.com/technology/electro.php)Those cages blocs every rf signal totaly. I have such tape. i will try that i think!

The problem is what the antenna picks up, beside what you are transmitting.

I hope they are, I'll be wanting one as soon as I can. No more freq probs will be great as will a lack of ariel stiking through the roof. You ought to get your hobby store to define shortly to give us a clue.

I bet there is some good threads about this over in the airplane section maybe you could look into.

Another thing that can cause these problems to come and go and your using the same radio is there is some metal parts somewhere in the model thats not tight. Metal rubbing somewhere, or loose bolts/screws.
I have actually taken my hand and gone around the model physically trying to move parts with the radio and receiver on looking for a glitch. And sometimes you can find it.

oh, here is some more reading material on this.
