How do you Fuel up
Hi everybody,i was wondering if any of you use an electrique fuel pump or a funnel to fill up your tank.I m used to those nitro bottles but my heli uses a fuel pump to fill up the tank.I like the idea of a fuel pump but the ones i can find are for nitro only.Or maybe there is another way of doing this without spilling fuel[sm=confused.gif]
Any ideas would be nice

RE: How do you Fuel up
I am going to get the Dave Brown six-shooter pump from tower hobbies. It is a hand crank model and is only $10.99. i was just trying to pour it in, but even using a funnel I just always made a mess. I don't want an electric because I don't want to have to carry a battery around just for that. Here is a link to the pump.....

check this out:
http://www.slimlineproducts.com/online_shop/m1_gas.htm
It's manual, but its great and does the job. Best part of it is that it has a hose with an aluminum nozzle that stows back into the cap to seal everything off and keep the fuel fresh.
I'm pleased with it 100% and I'm sure you will be too.

RE: How do you Fuel up
I use my 5 Litre gasoline can with a funnel.
I have an FG, which i put on the side so it stands on both left wheels, then i fill the fuel tank. Very easy, no spilling.

RE: How do you Fuel up
Amity,
Please take note of what it says about the Dave Brown pump:
FEATURES: Silicone Pumping Element for Fuel Resistance.
Has No Seals or Valves to Leak or Wear Out.
Self-Priming and Will Stop and Reverse Almost Instantly.
Almost Indestructable with a Warranty for One Year.
Designed for Glow Fuel Only.
If you are using Fg vehicles this pump is no good.
Check the link above for the best Pump out there.
With the Slimline pump I keep my MT on all four wheels, put the nozzle in the tank and fuel it up just like a real truck or car at a gas station.

RE: How do you Fuel up
Trust me, it's worth every penny. I don't know how you guys run your FG's, but I don't go through a gallon of gas in one day. It usually takes me about 2 seperate days of hard running to actually burn all that fuel. Sometimes a week or two seperates those 2 days as well.
So the slimline is good because its designed so that when you have finished fueling up your vehicle you secure the nozzle back into the cap. This causes the gas tank to be airtight (or at least no more air coming in from when you first filled the tank up). And we all know that air exposure is gas's worst enemy.
So if you are going to use up alot of fuel with no storage, get the cheaper pumps, but if you are going to have to store fuel for a week or two or three, then invest in something that will keep the fuel fresh.

kirkieboy.....just use this, it is the same thing.....and only $2.99. I am using Coleman fuel too, so I will use the metal can it comes in, the $10.99 pump and this kit, will work the same way for $13.98. Much cheaper than $50.00.

RE: How do you Fuel up
Hehe, yes. People are making fueling into a science. Its overrated
I have stored by FG for up top 3 weeks with the same fuel - no problems. Started at 3rd pull and its output and agressiveness is the same as "fresh" fuel. I doesnt matter.

RE: How do you Fuel up
Hi all, the spout on a £4 petrol can is fine it fits inside the tank so no spillage. why would you need a pump? a full tank takes just seconds to fill. Or you could be really extravagant and get a 50p funnel set from ikea

i pour mine into a plastic jug first
that way i can measure it, work out distance travelled in a run, and the time taken and work out the mpg

RE: How do you Fuel up
I used a can with a spout on it too. I have never found one yet that didn't leak, getting gas on my hands and the car. No Thanks.....LOL
With the pump I can pump the fuel in and back out with no mess. The pump is strapped right to the can, just pull out the nozzle and fill it up. All for $11.00......
I don't worry about the fuel going bad, just don't want it spilled everywhere.

RE: How do you Fuel up
Well I bought this fuel spout to fit the top of the Coleman can but I haven't tried it yet.
What you do is put the end of into your tank and then press down. Then remove and its stops so you dont have to worry about the tilt of the can. Bought it and the fuel at Wally world.
I will let you know the results.
Here is the link to it.

RE: How do you Fuel up
Well guys, I guess I just like precision instruments that are stylish. I also like things in a nice neat and orderly package (not like I have OCD or something) :-) But I just like the setup of the pump I have, and because I like it I spent the money on it. Simple.
Like I said though, its just a matter of preference. A funnel or a cheaper pump will do the same job, I guess.
