Default MT Tires Medium vs Hard

I've ordered the following from FG-Modellsport-Vertrieb in Germany:

1. Monster-Truck RTR (G260RC/04)
2. Gear Cover (FG6423)
3. Shock oil (500pce) (FG6510/5)
4. Roll Bar (FG6180)

I need to make a decision on the following. As I understand the MT comes with 2 medium and 2 hard tires. Siegfried (owner) gave me the option to choose my tires' hardness.

1. Would you recommend that I go for 4 x medium tires?
2. Does the RTR version comes with foam inserts?
3. Must I ask for the tires to be glued or not?

I was thinking that if the RTR version comes with the foam inserts, then I don't want the tires glued for I want to decide if I'm going to use the foam inserts or not. If it does not come with the foam inserts, would you recommend I get some. Has anyone experimented with the foam inserts?

My order is currently on hold, for I have to give Siegfried answers on the issues mentioned above. I'd appreciate some advice. Thanks.

1. I would recommend you to go with 4 x Hard tires. I have 2 medium and 2 hard. I have mounted the Hard in the back, and the Medium in the front. The Medium tires are to soft for my opinion - if the car are placed at the same spot for 24 hours or so, the tires will change form and are not completely round anymore - therefore, when my car is put away for the week, i put it on a stand, so the tires dont touch the ground.

2. I thought that FG had gone away from using inserts? I know there are no inserts in my MB nor my brothers MT - the reason is that the inserst were getting moist, and were acting crazy. The FG's we have were not delivered with inserts (not RTR though, but I dont think it matters?)

3. Dont ask for inserts, but ask for them to be glued. My tires were glued when the MB arrived - it is nicely done, and they have made a small hole, so the air pressure can compensate for cold and warm weather.

The Spur gear protection cover is a very good investment.
What you should also consider, is to order the reinforced differential tube which is 3 times thicker than the normal.
Also invest in some diff locking grease, which lock the differential - its cheap and very good - your MT/MB acts much more power full with 100% traction on both wheel.

Thanks for the advice MJT. I thought that the medium tires would maybe make the truck less bouncy? I don't know? Right, I'll ask for the the tires to be glued then without the inserts. I'll make the holes in the rims afterwards myself. Thanks again.

From stock, the MT is a bouncy thing. No doubt about that. But the trick is, to change the oil in all 8 suspension cylinders - the standard oil is thick as glue, and very bad for use in the MT. Use som new oil with viscousity 200 - then the MT will be as good as the MB.

I took off all of my tires since I bought them. How do you know which ones are the hard and which ones are the medium? Is there a mark or something?

Lick them, the hard ones are bitter and the mediums are sweet.

Now the sensible answer..........

There should be a small (4mm) circle on the side of each tyre with a letter in, M for Medium and H for Hard, apart from that, it will be fairly easy to tell if you just feel each tyre.
