Default Beginners Guide?

As a newbie who's main source of information is Lee-G (god bless him and god help me ) I'd like to request a sticky thread outlining the essential upgrades etc.

These last few days I've trawled through old threads learning tons of stuff from people on here with a wealth of knowledge. It would be much easier if there was a readily available beginners guide though IMO.

What do you think?

Simple rule of hop ups.

If you keep breaking plastic parts, replace it with ally

Engine hop ups
Exaust, Sambas release a lot of power, fg tuned pipes are good
Airfilters are allso worth considering, but I have been told that the newer type filter being fitted is meant to be as good as a K&N

Easy,

Open wallet, empty wallet then go break some more parts.

Repeat on a weekly basis until the wife decides to kill you, then find new hobby

Doctor told me to take up a non-stressful hobby, so I quit fishing, hunting and chasing married women and got into the large scale. Don't know if I could handle chasing married women again. Most of them are too old now and the younger ones run too fast.[&o][&o]

OK OK,

Main things you will need:

60mm gear carrier.
Alloy rear top arms.
Plenty of spare r-clips.
Spare 8mm ball ends

Then Id get some alloy lower rear arms. Alloy front uprights and then the rears when necesarry.

Dont worry about a pipe untill you have made the car nice and strong and learnt how to drive it. Its a completely different drive to what you have had before. Alot more throttle input is needed!

As for the rest of the alloy, its just for bling. Although I would consider an alloy diff conversion.

You will find GM Models the cheapest for bits and thier website stock is updated everyday.
A front bumper is also a good idea.

dub me ol' mucker not all alloy is purely bling some of it if not most is essential and not just for looks. although a small minority of it is for looks

don't forget the all important failsafe and go for some extra breaking power i myself couldn't afford the hydro's but the front cable brakes are just as good if not a better advantage because the hydro brake fluid can and does leak where as cable system is always ready to grasp the calliphers

maybe think about getting metal tranny gears as well

Veron,

Name some of the essentials mate.

Seein as piggy will only ever bash and not race tell us what other alloy bits ive not mentioned are essential!

Dont forget I drive mine to near destruction each week the parts ive listed above are what i have fitted to mine and since doins so its only ball ends i break on a regular basis.

An alloy roll cage would be the only other part I deem necasary and they dont make them

Lee

p.s knowing piggy like I do its a forgone conclusion that his will end up completely alloy in the end. But I do feel the bits I have listed as all a beginer needs to buy first.

As a basher, Dubby's advice is spot on for me I think. Upgrade the weak points first whilst learning to handle the wee beastie before blinging it up too much.

I'd rather break plastic than bend shiny bits whilst learning.

Learnt the hard way that going OTT with alloy can strengthen the truck too much. Alloy lower arms on a Savage nitro = much swearing and bent chassis/shiny bits if you drive like a loony and driving like a loony is so much fun

I wish mate.

Just packing up my Nitro trucks for their new owners, it's really quite emotional. Already feeling shiny bit withdrawal symptoms........ must polish something

All will be well when new, bigger shiny bits arrive from Germany.
