Default Starting Marder Race Tomorrow for the first Time?

I'm ready to run my Marder Race beetle conversion for the first time. I have all the electronics installed and ready to go. Just need to set the fail safe and glue the tires tonight. I do have one question though. Do I need the sheilded spark plug cap before I run this? I've been hearing about this being needed as a nessesary upgrade. Why is that? I just want to make I have everything covered before I start it up for the first time. Thanks.

you might need the cap if you start the engine and the radio starts to glitch,
or it gets a certian distance and the radio glitchs or the failsafe cuts in and out
