I did the same thing on the first one. You have to heat them up to break the loctite. I used a lighter for around 20 seconds. Or a propane torch.

I take a soldering iron with a small tip and stick it inside the allen screw for a minute or two and then they usually come out fairly easy. To prevent this from happening again, I started using locking set screws that require no lock tite. The locking set screws have knurles cut on the end so they screw on easy, but keep themselves from backing out. To remove all they need is a quick snap with the allen wrench and they come right out. I got mine from McMaster Karr. 5X5mm knurled set screws. You get 100 for only a couple dollars.

You still need to locktite the knurled screws also. nothing worse than being 5 minutes into a 30 A-main at a national event and have one come loose. I have seen it happen to a teamate.

The knurled screws will only come loose if you try to use them more than once (twice max). They are so cheap that it is no big deal to replace them often. I am no longer a racer however. I just race around for fun, so I am more concerned with ease of use than anything else. When I did race I would always pin the drive hubs to the axle.
There are three types of locking set screws that I am aware of, and the ones with one way teeth are the best.

mnf1sand I have never ever raced in a national event, but if I was in that position, I too would use locking set screws, with lock tite, and pin the hubs. For me it wouldn't matter however, because I would keel over from the stress of such an event well before I got to an A main feature race. Good Luck at the races!

I went to put my discs on and had the same problem, but unfortunatly I knackered the grubs up and a trip down to my local enginnering firm set me back £50[X(].
If in the future I need to do this again(hope not)I'll keep tis page.
