Jared1106:
I think rogley is thinking of the aftermatket ones that fits over the diff like the pinion/spur cover that FG makes...
So that the diff. metal outer tube is not getting hits from stones ect.
The ones you are talking about is the official FG reinforced diff tubes (whish is also a good investment)
Correct me if I'm wrong.

RE: Diff. cover
I purchased one of those covers and I ended up pitching it in the garbage. Waste of $50.00 IMO. By the time you cut away $10 worth of it to make it fit there are openings for stones to get in but not get out. I have the heavy duty diff tube and that seems to work well. Also i'm thinking of milling a slot in bottom to allow stone to fall out. That is if there is enough room without putting a weak spot in the chassis.

RE: Diff. cover
IMO yes they are. I should have taken pics before I threw it out. I couldn't believe the many spots that needed to be cut away to make it fit. Forget about setting gear mesh. Couldn't see the gears or get paper in there to set mesh or tell if the motor was cocked to one side or another. Bad design. Also it was made of very brittle fiber glass.

RE: Diff. cover
I have the Fiberglass ones on both my Beetle and MT and they were not difficult at all to put in place. They do require some minor trimming but i didnt think it was that tough.
If you are running the Hobbythek Wheelie bar then you will have to cut a lot of it away but other than that i didnt take much off it. Maybe 1/4" on the back end and enlarged the hole at the front a little bit.
The toughest part is tearing down the back end to do the fitting. I found it easiest to take the motor out, beleive it or not. To get the gear mesh correct i drew lines around the motor mounts to help me line it up when it went back together.
If you run in the dirt i wouldnt bother but i see a lot of gravel and they will be well worth it.

RE: Diff. cover
I had to cut the whole front off mine where the pinion gear is at cause it hit the motor. I had to enlarge the holes where it sat around the diff out drives and the shroud that houses the fly wheel hit on it. Maybe I got a bad one. I've been into rc cars for 20 years and i'm not new to making parts fit. This -for me- is a waste of money.
