Foam tire inserts
Wow, now I can see how it took FG so long to make!!!! Look at the intricate detail, the fine craftmanship, a lot of time must of gone into designing these. LOL

RE: Foam tire inserts
I contacted Ron at Krikke RC Model Car Racing, they have only one model of inserts for the monster truck from fg, and they look grayish/white to me looking at the pictures on their site.
So where can i find these you are showing ?
Inserts is no problem making your self, and there is probably no need for it really... but i can be wrong, anyone... is there a big difference in having inserts and not having inserts ?

RE: Foam tire inserts
I will have to try what difference it makes by my self then guys
I just ordered and paid for a set to my monster truck, they will probably get here in a few days, if I'm out of luck a week. Hope these inserts eliminates the problem when the tires are standing a while and getting those sunk in marks in the tires, hopefully i will not experience that again and if so it's bloody well worth the 34.50€[sm=thumbup.gif] I can imagine that the feeling when driving will also get better.

RE: Foam tire inserts
Got my inserts today, they where not yellow.... i got the blue ones [sm=eek.gif]
They where not working with me when inserting them inside the tires, the inserts are quite big and some sort of medium+ dense, feels like the denseness will be sufficient though, but they take a few minutes to install Placed the inserts into the tires first, then bend the tires with inserts over the rims, took a few minutes... but i was glad when it was done
Will try them out this weekend. Have harder springs now (black) so I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it wont bounce to much, in any case i will take with me another set of springs (gold) that are the model just below whats on the truck right now, they are a little bit softer.
Anyway, i can recommend anyone to buy these inserts if you are fed up with the flat-spots when the monster is standing at one place for a while, don't know how they effect driving, but i think they may be a plus there to. But you will have to take the whole tire from the rim, it wont do to just open up one side, that wont work.

RE: Foam tire inserts
I don't think Lee-G is thick, but in any case i don't think it could be compared to the inserts thickness
The inserts are around 2inch... 1,97inch i think it was, so you where pretty close
I'm sorry that i can't be more accurate now, i have already installed them. They can be a little pain in the arse to install, but no biggie, just use some force.. crowbar and a sledgehammer

RE: Foam tire inserts
The gain is mostly that it seams to get rid of the flatspot. And according to my judgment it's acting more normal now [sm=thumbup.gif] The truck bounces again as it should, acting just as a monster truck should to, I JUST LOVE IT !! [sm=thumbup.gif][sm=thumbup.gif]
But... it can also be my new springs, they are 2,5mm progressive springs, just love the handling of the truck now. But for many of you it would probably be rated to bouncy, but it's perfect for me. Have done some long jumps with it, and highspeeds on tarmac.. again [sm=tongue.gif] dived into ditches and ram down some woodworks and it's just moving trough the terrain so good now at high speed, and those jumps... it lands just as a real top of the line bigfoot lands, looks awesome. But again it would probably be to bouncy for many of the users here, but i know also that many of you have the same thinking as me on how the bigfoot should behave [sm=thumbup.gif]
Im sorry to say, but my current springs etc are being replaced in the next week by something else. This setup feels perfect now, but as always, when something is perfect or done, i want to try something else, a new approach

RE: Foam tire inserts
I tried boiling water, then added salt in the water, didn't work at all for me... just burned my fingers so fu... he.. so... bi...[:@]
So i sat down after they cooled of and used a sharp scalpel and cut them carefully from the rims, took a while but it worked perfect. You do need to have a LOT of patience when cutting them if they are glued well. When i did it i had to stay of the cola and coffee, and play kenny g out loud..... NOT
It is right, you don't get any insert for free from fg, you have to order them separately.
It can be a real pain in the arse to remove the glued tires, and not that big difference in handling with inserts, just feels a little better and you don't have to worry to much about those flatspots any more.
