RAMTech Aluminum Forty Sixes
RAMTech announces the arrival of Forty Sixes. These Aluminum rims are a Hybrid design, using 40 series tires and the 1/5 scale Square Drive hub. You can now choose from several Pro-Line tire designs, including Moabs, Big Joes, Road Rage, Mashers, Dirt Hawgs, and Bow Ties. The weight combination of Moab tires and these 46 series rims is only 1.25 lbs, versus 1.6 lbs for the MT tires and plastic rim. Shave almost a pound off your truck, while gaining reliability and performance. Rims will be available in Clear Satin Anodize, and Full Chrome.
These rims will be distributed by [link=http://vsmodelsport.com/]VSModelsport[/link] exlusively, so ask your dealer to order them. VSM will have them ready in about a week.
Thanks for looking!!

Yes, you have to properly glue the rims. Its not hard, just takes the rgiht CA glue and the right kind of aluminum preparation. I've been glueing rims for 3 years now, and haven't lost a tire yet. I've had my prototypes on now for 3 weeks, and haven't lost a bead yet either.

I got a question, what do you do when you wear the tires out, is there an easy way to get the old tire off? I know on plastic it is easy, just toss the rim, but i have a set of these coming, am going to put Road Rage 40s on them. When i were them out, i don't want to hack the rims up cutting the tires off.

There are several ways. Bake them in an oven, boil them in water, or use Acetone. I like to boil them in water on the Barbecue, less stink. Boil them for 10 minutes, and they peel right off.

Those are nice wheels, but I think if I get alloy rims, I wanna have beadlocks. Are beadlock alloy rims even available for a Monster Beetle? Probably don't even want to know how much they are if there are any available...[:-]

Those are really nice looking wheels RamTech-RC. Do you have plans for any others? I personally would like to see just your basic 5 spoke like the Vette uses.

The tires are Pro-line tires. The Moabs seem to last a long time. It depends which tire you get,a dn the conditions you use them. For General use, the Moab seems the best.
fourwheeler, shoot me a picture of the style you want. I may do a 6 spoke rim next, but thats not up to me, VSM decides what they want next.

That would look too cheap for me. I have to machine from the back side, due to the deep dish. So it would looks like 5 triangular slots from the front. I made rims like that 3 years ago, and I hated them.

fourwheeler, the problem is the deep dish. I can't make them nice and rounded like the picture you have, so they would look like just flat spokes. Which wouoldn't look good in my opinion.

I understand the problem with the deep dish issue. The 46's are indeed nice, and would lend themselves well to a more retro looking body.

RE: RAMTech Aluminum Forty Sixes
That is how all of the plastic rims are done, and my aluminum 40 series rims. When I put that design on the Finite Eleement Analysis computer, the hub area came out red every time. I was using a 25 pound truck as the simulation, and they never did well. The only way they held up were to move the hub and the centers back.
The reason the plastic guys do it is for the plastic molds. You can get better detail with the face close to the front. Same with my 40 series, its easier to mahcine that way.
