MT-5 DOWN FOR A LITTLE WHILE
Guys need a little advice for soring the MT-5.My body is out for a couple of weeks being custom painted. Is there any thing I should do to the motor while its not being run.I mean like storing it wise, I dont want it to be all gunked up or stiff when I get my body back from being painted.I am taking this opportunity to locate some upgrades for it.I found a local go-ped shop that I will be going to to see if they carry anything for it( like aluminum filters, etc.) Will post pics of the complete truck when it comes back.

Nothing!...its not like nitro where you need after run oil etc....
Mine has sat for 4 weeks and it starts first pull.....if you were storing it for 6 months you should prepare it but 2 weeks is fine.

Nope, just leave it!
And don't get any aftermarket filters. They don't have the filtering capacity of the original FG one and will let dust through on anything other than tarmac.
Spend your money on a good set of brakes and s decent rollbar. Also I wouldn't bother trying to put lights on the rollbar

I used to have a GoPed kart that ran a G230RC engine and I let that sit once for over a year and did nothing to the engine, and it started up on the 1st or 2nd pull and ran perfectly. These are some awesome engines. Let a nitro sit that long and you'll be buying a new one or in for some serious tuning...

If you want to spend some money, get an alloy differential case and a reinforced differential tube. Next should be an alloy spur gear carrier (or a steel spur gear with appropriate carrier) together with a steel pinion. These are the most important (in my opinion) upgrades everyone should go for. The stock air cleaner is fine. It needs maintenance, but it works very good.

Have used Marvel Mystery Oil in the past, even on nitro's, with no problems but for the past few years, I just dust the chassis off and store in a damp basement, my trailer or any place else with enough room. EXCEPT my dinning room table and bed. Put in fresh gas a year or so later, prime and go. One main thing to do though is, CHARGE the BATTERY "BEFORE" taking it out for a spin.

Done it one time too many. Went to a race and forgot to charge the batteries. But then by other racers forgetting to charge the batteries another time allowed me to take 2nd in the main

Posted pics in my gallery. I know I know I heard what u guys said about the air filters, but I couldnt resist the BLING(lol). Besides my LHS is giving me some discount because im letting them use the truck when they go to shows. So the truck probably will see very little off-road.
I decided to add a boost box just to see if theres any difference. And BELIEVE ME, THERE IS ! ! ! So that is definatly staying on.Next addition will be front disc brakes & high perf pipe(Chrome), and im looking into a 2spd.
WILL KEEP YA POSTED ON THE UPGRADES ! ! ! ! !

Croozer check my gallery for the pics.
Boost Box Performance Benifits:
Improved throttle response, quicker acceleration, and overall performance.Boost Box can Increase top speed by as much as 2-4mph.Last but not least it reduces intake noise.
Purpose:
Acts as a tuned reservoir for the fuel/air mixture, allowing the engine to quickly draw on it !
