swamp kongs
Has anyone run the Imex Kong tires or the new Swamp Kongs. I just ordered them and was wondering what your thoughts were. They are larger than the FG monster wheels and tires at half the price I have the CNR adapters for 1/10 to 1/5 so they will fit. Here is a link if you do not know what they are:

I am upgrading to 50/15 gearing on the spur/pinion and leaving the diff. 50/15 and just wanted to know if I am going in the right direction for these tires.

RE: swamp kongs
I'm worried that 1/10 small hex's will not hold. I occasionally round of my wheels on the Savage, and that is with a lighter truck with less power. Imagine with taller tires, and you might have a problem. Just don't over tighten the wheel nuts.
I was looking for wheel and tire options, but there is nothing worth buying. The new alloy wheels that fit Pro-Line 40 series tires are way over priced. VS now wants $300 for them. They must be making a killing, since the Ramtec was originally asking $240 before. I aleady thought that was overpriced, since those same wheels with hex fittings only cost $180.

I have also rounded the wheel hex's out and have found if I Shoo Goo (Rubberized CA) the adapters in to the wheel hex they hold up alot better and to remove the Shoo Goo you just heat up the wheel hex area with a hair dryer and the Shoo Goo will loosen up.
I was thinking of getting these to use with some proline 40's:

I hope the kongs hold up. If they do not at least it will be fun until they fail

RE: swamp kongs
I've been doing some research to get aluminum rims instead of the plastic ones. Here is what I've found so far:
PSPMFG aluminum 40 series - $189 rims + $60 Moabs + $50 CNR adapters = 299, but its been sorry not available at this time at PSP, for almost 6 weeks. And I;ve heard the adapters put alot of strain on your axles??
AJSMachine aluminum 40 series RAMtech rims - $179 +60 Moabs =$50 CNR adapter = 289, but not available for the last 6 weeks yet.
RAMTech 40 series 46s at RCNutHobbies - $240 + 60 Moabs = $300
Most likely, I will be buying the RAMTech rims, since they are designed for these FG trucks, and don't need adapters. I'd also like to get the Swamp Kongs fitted, but they seem a little too heavy to me. And I'm not sure if the adapters will hold up in the long run.

I'm looking for a picture on a Marder or Firehammer. I have an MB, but I'm wanting to get a Marder. Maybe the 46s on a Marder, and Jumbo Kongs on my MB,

RE: swamp kongs
My bro-in-law has a set of Jumbo Kongs on Diamond rims for his brushless Emaxx. He tried them recently, and they are somewhat of a joke - probably ok for rock crawling, but due to their tall sidewall (and all that foam inside), they tend to get "out of round" at high speed and "whump - whump - whump".
On a side note, I retro-fitted a set of Ofna Monster Pirate wheels/tires to a Traxxas MB I previously owned, and they worked great.

RE: swamp kongs
Jumbo Kongs belong on Clod crawlers almost exclusively. I can easily see how the guy says above that the wheels lose their shape at high speeds. I had them mounted on an all alluminum Clod chassis crawler (pics below) with alloy rims and while they do look awesome, to actually use them is probably not practical, unless your going for a showroom look and not really gonna drive it. I would imagine that putting these on any FG would just simply crush the tires. Talk about flat spots with the FG tires, these would probably look like they had a permanent flat tires all the way around under the weight of a MB or MT...They just have too much sidewall for any weight/speed paracticality...

What is nthe dameter of the stock MB/MT-5 wheels will any of these fit the stock wheels? If not does anyone make anything to fit the stock wheels other than slicks or the stock tires?

RE: swamp kongs
I don't think any of those tires you linked to are Monster tires. Those are for the F1 cars and other onroads along with some buggy off-road tires. As far as I know the only option for the MT and MB are the stock Bigfoot or slick tires...It would be nice if someone like Pro-Line or Imex made some FG size tires though...
