rear MT diff(very pourly built)
Hello, everybody has any one had the rear diff in their FG monster truck come apart. The plastic that the rear drive gear bolts to cracked and the peice ware the axle bearing slides onto broke off!.Really not impressed with FG design very pourley built.Any way that's enough complaneing.Does any body know how or ware to get better steel parts that won't brake or does any body know how to make it a locker or will this make the truck hard to corner?. Thanks for any Info.

Get yourself an FG catalog from a dealer. It will have everything you need to fix your problem. Aluminum dif housing, locking dif ect.

You are correct the stock diff is a turd. Look on this board for other options and opinions this topic was covered recently. I hate to be a "search dork" but look around; it's here. In summary of the diff issue, the solution is money $130 all the way up to $330. Anything that you buy will be a huge improvement just specify "NO PLASTIC" when you buy the new diff. Research until you know the differences between all of the diffs and what you expect from the diff.(Locking? incredibly smooth, basic, adjustability.....)

Everyone says the FG MT is the BEST??? why are manufactures making alloy hop ups to a perfect truck???. I guess you get what you pay for. 1/4 scale is the way to go. Cost is the same (after you break all the plastic parts) and no plastic parts to break.

Being the best dosnt mean its perfect, it just suggests its better than all the others currentl available. Not that I think it is, MCD's new MT chassis looks pretty damn good.

The gm 350 small block and the ford 9inch rear are some of the best, I guess nobody makes hop-ups for them right?
1/6 scale takes up enough room already if I got a 1/4 scale I would have to get rid of some furniture.

Yea replace the cheap plastic on a FG MT with alloy. I don't see that an a 1/4 scale New Era car, off road truck or MT truck or any other 1/4 scale. FG products stock are cheap to get it out to the public fast and to get more people hooked figuring hop ups (ALLOY )later for $$$$. Quality always comes at a price. You always get what you pay for???

I like the stock parts, they're easy to repair. Broke parts can be fixed together with CF rods with CF string, epoxed together. Voila- fixed, stronger than before at negligable cost. Other plastic parts can be CA'd together, seem to melt and bond together.

What is it exactly that you own? We already know you obviously don't have an FG of any kind. You are hell bent on the New Era MT, but don't have that either. So what do you have??? Have you ever owned an FG? Just curious, don't want to start anymore flaming. We all know what it is you "like", but it would be nice to know what you have now, and have had in the past...

I don't own a product with the poorest breakage record and most complaints like the FG MT. I only own 0 tolerance breakage record products.

RE: rear MT diff(very pourly built)
Its quite easy to make any FG Off-Roader a 0 breakage product.......
Just only drive it around on sunny days...
Never jump higher than 1"
Never drive faster than 3mph
etc.
etc.
etc.
That way, Most any car is a 0 Breakage product.
Maybe THAT is the way to drive a New Era Truck(Or homebuilt clone of it)?
But where is the FUN then?
I don't want a New Era Truck
I want a car that I can afford to repair when it breaks.
I want a car I can play with when out on the nearby platou, and don't cry to much.... If it goes over the 200' drop...
And the Way I drive.... ANYthing is breakable
I bet that a New Era Truck, going WOT into large boulder, is going to break.
For some reason The Rock always Win.
