Default How to paint Marder shell

Hello people,i m on the edge of buying a Marder Race and was wondering how do you paint the ABS shell so that it doesn t scratch and peel off?I ve seen different Marder bodies and alot of them are nicely painted.

Thanks.

You can't! Any paint will scaratch off as soon as you flip it on it's lid at 50mph! It's best to leave it plain white and just stick the stickers on!

Buy Poly or thicker 2mm body, official shell is pretty expensive though. [] And the "cheap" ABS shell is still around £40[:@]

paint will scratch off in the end but not on every crash (unless on tarmac)

Ive painted a few now and they lasted for a good amount of time. Plus you can whack a sticker over the scratches

I used a primer first and paint from the automotive store. It is less expensive and you can just paint again or just cover with a sticker as mentioned.

I work in crash-repair so I just used normal ICI automotive paint (seeing as its free and we can make ANY colour I like )

Just make sure the shell is well prepped and that you use a good quality plastic primer first.

Plastikote spray paint is pretty tough.

You can strengthen the ABS shell quite easily with glass fibe. Stiffen up the roof and reinforce the body mount holes with it.

What about getting the clear 2mm lexan one and painting it from the inside?

yep! thats the best bet without a shadow of a doubt imo.
unless you want to be constantly painting or re-stickering it.
have you driven it much yet? coz i just started and ive already rolled my marder race about 10 times!
wouldnt bother painting anything for a few tanks yet...

regards, paul.

Here in Canada there's Krylon paint for plastic. Works very well but not too many colours to choose from.
