Default Gear mounting melted

Using the car, and it looks like something has gone wrong, it's melted around the brake pad..
Where can I buy a alloy gear/pinion holder thing for the FG Leopard in the UK? Also the clutch bell quickly coloured purple- the clutch pads look ok. Looks like the disc brake is toast. The upper left A arm melted a bit too.

No idea why []

Checked the exploded Leopard part number-
7039- gear carrier plastic- 20 Euros
6044- single epoxy brake disc - 12 Euros

also melted 7041
might need 07040/01, plastic and epoxy has melted in some areas

Noticed 6745 is missing from the model (between clutch and pinion gear)

But would like alloy version of 7039 available in the UK. It wouldn't bother me if it failed after I've had it a couple of months, but haven't even gone through 2 tanks [:@]

Looks like some brake was applied all the time. The brake disk is burned, so that was the heat source.

Smokin, that's some real good work there Mad Wax [sm=biggrin.gif]

I would also say that the brake must have been on the whole time for that to happen.

First time i seen a melt like that, a real top job Mad Wax [sm=thumbup.gif]

No, im just pulling your chain mate, im really sad that it happen, but as many times.... **** happens

Thing is it happened really quickly, it's not like I drove around for 10 minutes with it on, and it was going normal speed. This has never happened on the Marder.

It was ok yesterday, now all of a sudden brakes lock. I would say driving around for 10 seconds whilst it bogged down before I stopped. I've got a dremel to the brake holder and scraped of the burnt plastic.

will the part "Same as above, but fits all other FG-cars (except Formula1) and the above mentioned cars after upgrading to the new 1-disc brake on the layshaft." in Hobbytech fit in place of 7039 ? € 36.65

I like that the clutch bell is a great colour

Did the bottom brake pad mounting screw wind itself in and jam the brake on I've had that happen with similar results. When I replaced it I used 5mm longer bolts with a lock nut on the gear side of the brake assembly to prevent the bolts moving.

Default RE: Gear mounting melted

Just removed the gear mount from my broke Marder- checked and it's exactly the same piece, so I don't need to buy the carrier, alloy brake holder, brake disc or brake rod bushings :-)

I hope this one doesn't do the same. When I've got the cash to get the Marder going I'll order the parts I've taken from it. Actually the gear carrier is still OK, if I decided to use rear disc brakes (so the melted rear end doesn't matter)
