Metal gears for marder
I have recently aquired a marder to play with...After about 15 minutes of running it stripped down the main spur gear.I'm curious if its a good plan to use all metal gears or if the spur hould be left plasic so that it breaks before other things do?

RE: Metal gears for marder
Steel for pinion, plastic for spur...like you said if something jams in drivesystem you have one point of failure (otherwise engine will jam then be damaged- most likely unrepairable)

RE: Metal gears for marder
I have the steel pinion and spur from rcnutshobbies, and I love it! One thing, though...the new gearing has more teeth than stock and it seems a bit slower off the line. Middle and top end speeds are great, but it doesn't have the bottom end, the take off speed, that I would like.
Oh well.
