Steering Servo Horn Length
Has anyone experimented with different length servo horns?
I've been using a 70mm horn until this morning when it stripped. Replaced it with a 55mm horn, adjusted the end points accordingly and now have much sharper steering
Is there an optimum length?

RE: Steering Servo Horn Length
Regarding the strength of the servo, then yes. The specs given by the manuf. of the servo is usually given @ 1cm (.40") from the servo gear center. So placing the steering connectors further from the center will decrease the serring power you have. That is well worth considering as you can easily look at only 50% strength if you move away from the center.
So if that was what you ment by "sharper" turning then "yes"

RE: Steering Servo Horn Length
If you've got EPA reduced to reduce the lock to lock (if you currently use outmost servo horn hole) you might as well use the inner mountings and increase EPA until lock to lock is achieved. You'll get greater torque- but lower speed. I think torque is a bit more imporant than a slight difference in speed.
