Default Replacing diff cover

Hi all,
I've been running my Monster Beetle quite a lot lately since I've got it, much better than my nitros.
Anyway I've got quite a few big dents im my diff cover, so I bought another one but was just wondering if you need to re-fill the diff with grease when you swap the covers over. Or is it just a case of swapping the covers over and carrying on??[]
Cheers, Colin.

I am also curious to find out from the forum experts if an ungraded limited slip diff is bought, is it going to be RTR or will it require grease to be packed in before running?

lsd diff come in bits - they need to be assembled & greased - they dont come with diff ring either - rather than buy a lsd diff its cheaper to buy fg lsd diff conversion kit.

adding more fresh grease wont do any harm - run with little/dirty grease will result in damage.spend a few $$ on a tube/tub of new diff grease.

Fill it with diff lock grease and get the steel diff cover $20.
I think the big dollar diffs are not for bashing or off road.

What's suitable diff lock grease that is available from motorbike shops? (most likely cheaper than RC car diff grease, and in larger tubs)

You said you need ~3 tubs of that, so why not find a 1lb tub of diff grease? And that stuff available in USA, so factor in shipping & charges. I'll check LBS tom for suitable stuff.

I Disagree I have the visco in mine and it has taken a beating. So far I have broken 3 drive squares, two clutch bells and a outer axle shaft and the diff is still as smooth as the day I built it. Great for powering out of corners. I have landed on the throtle many times with no ill effects...Ever.

i thought visco diffs dont fit on offroad - there an onroad diff, lsd 2 fold or 4 fold self locking diffs are for off road use.

I used 120,000 diff lock from Ofna or you can use 300,000 if you find it. Works great, doesn't leak like bearing grease did and you gets lots of traction. I bottle will last you for a long time.

Yes, Colin. If you use a liquid differential grease, you can just slip one if the drive cups out and squeeze in as much as you like before reinstalling it. [8D]

The Bad Horsie stuff that I posted is not a liquid, but a heavy paste. I know you don't intend to use it since it is not sold in the UK, but if you did, you would have to remove the diff. cover and pack it in the gears, anyway.

Good Luck!
