Hydro brake Oil? What to use?
I have a set of Hydro brakes on the way.
I "think" they are Magura ones, but the seller did not know.
Which type of oil do I need to use?
Can I use car DOT4 brake fluid?
Hydrauilic oil from forklifts, buldozers and such?
Or is it something speciel, ony for 1/5 scale hydro brakes?
I would like to find something that I can buy locally, as changed local postal rules makes shipping of anything likely to be flammable extremely expensive.

RE: Hydro brake Oil? What to use?
do not use auto brake fluid - you need to use mineral hydro oil,the type fg bottle for the magura brakes is around £10 for 50ml - its the same fluid used in mountain bike hydros, you can get it cheaper from ebay or from bike shop - its called "magura royal blood"
edit - found 100ml bottles cheap on ebay

I will see if I can get some from the local Mountain Bike shop.
My problem is that flameable fluids has to go by ship.... That adds 3 weeks time to the shipping, and if it is considered hazmat, like Nitro fuel, then I should add a us$ 100 Hazmat shipper fee + whatever the actual shipping cost is.

Or you can just use mineral oil. Both work well.

RE: Hydro brake Oil? What to use?
btw bikes use different types of oils for their brakes- DOT and mineral oil, the former stuff is what damages paint. AFAIK you cannot change over oils from one to the other (something to do with the seals)
Make sure get the correct type.
