Default Question about Battery checker

Well.. hmm when should i check the battery voltage.. when i dont use the servos (the battery checker often says it's full) but when i steer or brake/gas it goes more or less down.. and this is diffrent from if it's full loaded or less..
i get confused by this.. but i guess i should watch it when it goes close to red:P

You need to check it under load. When you use the steering servos you will see the voltage drop.

In any case, you will see if it get's lower then when you started. It's a nice thing to have on the car, but not a must.. yet good thing to have

Does anyone know if one could get a amp/volt meter in about the same size as a battery checker ? In the US, and in Europe for example.

Do you have a "Y" connector to your steering servo? Big servo's draw a lot of power and if your running it through your receiver it might not be getting enough AMPs through the small wiring.

Default RE: Question about Battery checker

I had thought about getting a battery checker, but since I have a (self-made) 3800 mAh battery I decided not too. I can get around 3-4 tanks on one charge and I use a trickle charger after every use (if not my quick charger). 3 hours of constant run time is more than enough and as long as I hook it up to the charger I will never have a problem. So I guess my suggestion is that you really don't need one..... Just my opinion though.

My big servos get power directly from the battery, except from one. On my other setup i have all the servos getting power trough the receiver, think i will change that as there are four servos on that one, but it have worked with no problems so far... anyways i have to at lease make those steering servos get power direct from the battery.

The battery checker is NOT a must, just a nice thing to have
