H.A.R.M Wild Hunter 1/6 OffRoad Electric
Does anyone know pricing and availability of the HARM Wild Hunter...or a retailer who stocks it?
Not a lot of info on the net about this car.

Yes I read that post but there was no info on pricing and where to buy.
I have emailed some HARM distributors but I'm still waiting for a response.

Forget Nicads and NiMH, its all about Lithium.
The new Lithium Polymer packs have 6400 mAh or more....run time will be at least 30 to 45 mins, same as a tank of fuel in the FG's

The Lithium packs are still getting their act together. The discharge rate for LiPo batteries is not good enough for RC car applications. I have not seen affordable 1:10 scale LiPo batteries so I can't image a 1:5 scale.
The batteries shown in the picture are NOT LiPo. They are most likely NiMH. LiPo cells are shaped differently.
A Traxxas E-Maxx with NiMH packs can run for maybe 20 minutes. An E-Maxx only weighs around 14 pounds. That HARM car is probably around 21 - 22 pounds so it might be more like 15 minutes.
LiPo cell technology will eventually be affordable and have the discharge rate needed for giant scale but I would bet the farm on one for next year.

This thing is heaps lighter than petrol 1/6 and quicker.
According to the HARM web site, the Wild Hunter only weighs in at between 14.3 pound to 15.4 pound....probably depends on the options.
Yes the car is pictured with NiMH but Lithium are more than capable.
You can get Lithiums with continuous outputs of 60 amps and discharge rates of 20C and above.
With twin 6400 MAH packs, run times will be the same or better than petrol FG's.
My FG MT is too loud with the Jetpro pipe to do night driving....but with this thing, some nice lights and very little sound to worry about, I can drive 24hrs a day!

Doohan, I'm not trying to rain your parade here but if LiPo batteries were an option for this car then HARM would be marketing as such. It would probably drop the weight down 200 - 500 mg (over NiMH packs), give better runtime, etc. The fact that HARM does not mention LiPo batteries as an option speaks volumes to me that the current drain is too high for their application. HARM insteads speaks of 16 cell battery packs (most likely NiMH). Even the Traxxas E-Maxx only uses 12 - 14 cells.
I wonder if HARM partnered with an experience brushless ESC manufacturer (i.e. Novak) or if they developed it on their own?
I wouldn't pre-order until some reviews with video are released that show what the off-roader is capable of. It would also be interesting to see a disection of the chasis to see what has been removed (besides the engine) to remove weight.
I look forward to hearing more about these electric cars but can't get excited because there is no significant market space developed for giant electrics.

Mike, what have you purchased from this guy? I normally order from "cheapbatterypacks.com" and their quality and service is excellent but I'd rather keep my money here if the price is compairable

I order 3 of the 6v 1100 mah 2/3a packs like in the auction (for my RC boats)
3300 mah sub C 6v
2500 mah 9.6AA pack for my R1 (loves to eat batteries)
and a pair of Deans connectors
$112au shipped to my door.
Took a week but he was out of the 2/3a packs, he would have split shipped but charged extra.

ive purchased from him too and am satisfied. i think alot of people are still freaked out about lipos. manufacturers soon will be pushing them. the new scorpion is nice but to pricey. i have alot of experience with lipos and some cells could be put together to have comparable or better performance than gas. i love my monster beetles though, cant get that sound from an electric.

Lipos are nice. A RC18T with a brushless Mamba and lipos was clocked at around 75KM!!! I have a few friends with them and they rcket not to mention last for a long time. But the start-up cost isn't cheap either!!

There is a review somewhere of the 1:18 scale brushless system from Castle Creations (Mamba). With LiPo (as Selwa said) it will easily do 60 mph (75+ kph). I saw a video of one of these trucks running and it was incredible. Also very uncontrollable. Anything short of easing the throttle would flip the truck over on its back (even non-linear throttle would cause it to flip once it was going). The driver had it going really well in the dirt a few times.
With a NiMH pack the same truck would run at 35 mph. With the added weight of NiMH cells I could imagine the truck being more fun to drive. It would probably not flip over as easily.
The pictures on HARMs site show the Hunter with 3300 Sanyo NiMH cells. I also saw mention of a 24 cell option. That's got to be a heck of an ESC to handle that type of current draw from 24 sub C cells to a brushless vehicle that is 15 - 17 pounds.
I am eager to read some reviews and see some action videos.

RE: H.A.R.M Wild Hunter 1/6 OffRoad Electric
I wanted to jump in here and share some battery vs. weight info. that I am currently researching for my E-Maxx.
I have been in contact with a guy who has a 14+ lb. Gorilla-Maxx, (all aluminum E-maxx) who is getting run-times of 30 minutes on two 6-cell 3700mAh battery packs. [X(] Of course that is an E-Maxx that has room to run two packs at a time and he is using a high-dollar brushless motor/ESC, but it does give a guy hope. The Wild Hunter is about the same weight, if not quite the scale. Maybe you could order a rolling chassis and drop in a brushless motor and build some custom battery packs with high output cells.
I am seriously considering selling my MB to get the brushless set-up for several of my other projects (including turning a Kyosho Inferno into an electric 1:8 scale buggy). I love my Beetle, but I can't take it to the track, my neighbors are on the verge of calling the police, and there is no one around here who wants to go driving with me in a field. In the meantime, I drive electric at home and at the track, while my $2000.00 investment sits in the garage...lonely. [&o]

That is why I'm happy with my stock muffler for now. Believe me I'm a speed freak but I have seen the light when it comes to noise.

Has anyone had success getting availability and pricing information on this car, the EP1 Sedan, or the Electric version from FG?

Well I finally had a response from someone in France regarding the EP1.
Looks like the EP1 Roller (no electronics, motor or body) is about $850 USD by todays USD to Euro exchange rate.
ELS100 Speedo about $178 USD
Power Brushless Motor $166 USD
ELS200 Speedo (extreme) about $260 USD
Extreme Brushless Motor about $225 USD
I suspect the offroad chassis will be slightly less, but you never know.
EP1 Chassis with brushed motor and ELS100 speedo (no body) approximately $1,050 USD
EP1 Chassis Complete setup with battery (2 9.6V), ELS100, brushless motor, servo, radio, body, charger approximately $1,650 USD
