RE: FG Marder goin 4wd
shaft is so more efficient, but I think i'll stick with the 2wd wonders. 4wd would be nice for wide turns and short tracks. BUT, they would have to run in a class of their own... there aren't many people racing the big boys as it is, unless they live in my area, you guys luck out. 1/5 is so big here its unbelieveable. Its why I am getting OUT of nitro

Hell yeah you will. I am tryin to come up with a good engine setup... stock is not how i drive . Which driver were you? I know Frederik, mikey, andrew, mike, there is one guy i cant put a name to the face. BUT, you can hear his voice on some of the hideaway demo movies. He says "this is what a 1/10th scale looks like on this track", that oval where the sprint car is flyin around the track... same one u guys do the long F1 runs.
I SHOULD have the buggy BY march. I'll be more than ready.

Hellya,
Is this shaft drive mod a kit, or was it a one-off? I'd really prefer a shaft drive upgrade, even if it meant a lot of changes.
Cheers,

Engine placed as on the pics will tilt the car.
It won't work this way.
I agree shaft drive is deffinately the best option to go with but the engine has to be placed as it is normally if you want to control the car.

RE: FG Marder goin 4wd
Hmmm, but the engine is tilted, so I'd imagine that the centre of gravity would be acceptable? Looking at my old MP6, the engine in that was off centre too, and that was a pretty decent buggy.
Regardless, I'm looking for a shaft drive 4WD kit .. while it may be easier to just buy an MCD, I like the FG stuff, and I'd really like to keep it!
Is anyone out there of a shaft drive adaption kit?
Cheers

Has anyone tried the Kamitiro €375 conversion kit for the Marder yet?

If it is god, then I am considering getting a Marder bottom for my Leo.

The torque of the motor will rotate the car, that is the problem.

It is not the off-centre that will bother.

I think alot of interest dropped off when people realized the 375 euro kit, did not include alot of the parts required to finish the vehicle. Tack on the price of another Diff, diff gear, upper suspension arms, etc, and suddenly the conversion is gonna be over $600.
I like the look of the kit, but for the price (and the freaky lack of belt tensioning), I think I'll be saving my pennies for a MCD.

That could be solved, by a center diff, with a similar rotating mass, just rotating the other way...

As you state "rotate in opposite direction" so you need a gearwheel. Then you need to compensate that weight of the gearwheel again etc.
Theory nice, but practically impossible. The 2-stroke engine has quite a huge gyro effect which makes the car impossible to control well.
Just the engine straight in the car as usual and go from there.

RE: FG Marder goin 4wd
Could the stability created by the gyroscopic effect of the rotating tires not help to stabilize the motion created by the motor? I'd think esspecially with larger tires, that it may work.
I realize a 26cc motor has far more "kick" to it then a nitro engine, but 1/10-1/7 scale vehicles have used a mounting method like this for years with minimal negative gyroscopic effect.
Just a thought.....
