Monster Jam in Toronto
Hi All,
This past weekend I was among a group of guys that were invited to be part of the Monster Jam in Toronto's SKYDOME (now called Rogers center) I was there a few years ago with my Hyper 7 Pro as well.
There were 3 of us with 1/6 scales and the rest had 1/8 nitros. I had my FG with the monster tires and the H2 Hummer shell on it. Saturday they had a pit party on the ground level where 10 monster trucks were displayed as well as all of ours on tables set up. The FG was a bit hit!! I even had a few kids ask me for an autograph!!! How cool is that!!! A friend took a few pics and I'll post them once he gets them up on www.offroadrc.ca.
We were asked to drive anywhere on the field before the show and during intermission. One tank of gas lasted me the whole weekend!! I still had my studs in the tires so when I did a burnout sparks were flying on the pavement before I hit the dirt!! I tackled a few of the jumps and it just sored through the air.. Nothing broke except a few crakes on the Hummer shell after a few cartwheels!! I noticed I was up on the huge jumbotron vewier several times.
When I came home I blasted off all the dust and dirt and now it's resting in the basement. What a blast!!!!

SELWA the RC rock star
Did the sparks from your tires get some oohs and ahhs when it happened?
Sounds very cool. Can you post a few pictures in this thread when you get them?

I feel like Barney the dinosaur! LOL I'll post some pics as soon as I see them. On of the mods that was with us has about 200 pics to go through first.
On Sunday they pulled out the motorcross jump for the nitro guys and a few of them made it across!!! I wasn't about to jump the FG over a 20FT jump onto a ramp 30FT away!!! Not that crazy!!

RE: Monster Jam in Toronto
Thanks! There were about 10 MOnster Truck and the only one I remember is Gravedigger. One of the guys had a very nice gravedigger Body on his truck. I think it was a TNX. The H2 Shell had a good beating at the show but handled great on the dirt with the studded wheels. LAst year a friend was there with his MT and the tires spun a lot so keeping the studs in was a great idea.
I thought that kid tried to post like a supermodel. Never though of it as a meal!! Maybe a big banana.
I hope the mods post some pics of the FG's so I can paste them here!

Hey Joe,
The pictures are great. You signing the autograph is also great. Shame you couldn't get a better looking supermodel to pose with you . At least your wife won't be jealous.
Was the T-MAXX monster truck running at the show? I don't keep up with Monster Jam but recently caught part of a show on the Speed Channel. The T-MAXX team looked pretty cool and competitive. I thought it is a great way for Traxxas to sponsor a motorsports team. If the Traxxas truck was there, was Traxxas there showing off hobby trucks in a booth?
I'm not a Traxxas fan boy but I do like that hobby RC has a mainstream outlet with Monster Jam.

BTW - How did you find out about taking your RC to the event? Is there some sort of web site sign-up? The tour comes through Greensboro from time to time. It would be cool to go head-to-head with Savages and T-MAXXs with my Firehammer. Maybe I can convince 05FGMT to bring his MT-5 out as well.

RE: Monster Jam in Toronto
Thanks again!! Yup the wife isn't jealous! There was some eye candy there though!! I had tons of people ask me about the FG. The Hummer H2 shell was a huge hit at the show, not to mention the size of it. Several took pictures and once I remove the body to show them the inside they were very surprised since most of it was aluminum.
There's a Hobby Store I deal with sometimes in Toronto called John's Photo and Hobby. They have been going for years. I was there in 2004 with them when I had a hyper 7 pro. They invite their good customers to come out and I guess it did help that I bought a HARM on-road from them in November as well.
I can post more pics but they are more with the monster trucks. I spend most of my time in the locker room this year since I knew more of the guys that came out. A few of them were flying helis in there as well. Very cool!!! It was funny though, I was the only one that didn't have to work on his RC except for re-gluing some of the tires. The rest were cleaning and adjusting their nitros.
I wish there was some way we could have had a video camera in there!!! But security was very strict about that.
